Tips, tricks, and tactics to vex and defeat your enemies

AKA: The Fight Book

This is not meant to be a comprehensive guide to all things cRPG - just a collection of tactics and techniques, primarily for infantry, that I've found to be useful. I'll probably add to it over time, so if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

I think I can share some of me tactics in multiple combat.
1-First one is I know it's a bit obvious but never and ever attempt to kick your enemies. Even if the one of the guys you are facing has a shield and moves in a way that is very vulnerable for a kick. This might be tempting to do, but if you decide to stop for 1 sec and kick your enemy you will find yourself swarmed in all directions; therefore dead.
2-
Quote
You may need to block several attacks in a row before finding an opening to retaliate
This is extremely correct, but if you manage to do the retaliation with chamber blocking the last swing it is even more frustrating for your enemies. This is something they expect very least.
3-The thing you have to consider is your enemies' awareness against your offensive power. Majority of players tend to play a bit more careless when they think they got someone cornered. While experienced players still keep their defence up always, this still applies to them as well in a manner. This is your biggest adventage. Sometimes I do try to put myself in situations like this, just to lower the defensive abilities of my enemies, but that is I only do in deathmatch-based gamemodes of course. Well I'd like to explain, but it would be veery long.
4-The 2nd guy is always less aware! Imagine 2 guys try to mob you and you fight with one of them backpedalling, while the 2nd guy is just behind the foe you're fighting with. With good skills, and a bit of luck you can kill the 2nd guy if you try to hit him with an unexpected forward move. 90% of players would fall for this, and 10% of them can only manage to survive if they are in shape at the moment. That way, you can make it 1v1 considerably easy.
Of course if you are facing with very experienced opponents at once, there is not much of a thing you can do; no matter how good you are. Unless you are level 35 or something.

And...

Hell Yes!

Just a note:
A lot of people refer to the "parry and riposte" as a "chamber", which is wrong.  Chambering is exactly what this guide says -- you are simply holding an attack, like having a round chambered in a gun (thus the term).  It's ready to fire.  The act of attacking in the same direction your opponent is attacking, resulting in a free parry followed by an attack is best referred to as the "parry and riposte".

So basically when you hear people say, "Was that a chamber?", they probably are asking if it was a parry & riposte that got them.
Crush your enemies; see them driven before you; hear the lamentations of their women.

I believe the term "chamber blocking" is something technical about computer programming part of the game. Since warband is released, everyone name it "chamber blocking" there fore "chamber". But yeah, parry&riposte should be the correct name for it.

Thanks for mentioning this. I meant to say something about it in the 3-man fighting section but I forgot.

Also, I noted the differences in terminology. Hopefully it's not TOO confusing, since the terms I used are technically correct and I'm anal enough that I don't really want to change them.

My pleasure :)

I think a strategy should be applied when you are the adventegous side in the multiple fighting as well. When you outnumber your opponent simply:
1-Do not tk. I know this is a bit obvious, but a lot of people tend to ignore what harm tk'ing do.
2-Wait for the right moment to strike. If you are the 2nd guy, simply wait for the right moment to strike. Hold your strike and wait for a clear opportunity to strike. When you get the chance, hit him hard! This way, you will avoid Teamkills pretty easy. Side swings and thrust attacks are ideal for this.
3-Use overheads only when you engage someone in two fronts. Overheads, are the slowest of all swings. Your enemy might hit you if you do not use it at the right time. But when the enemy is forced to engage in two fronts (by you and your teammate) he can not hope to retaliate so feel free to hit him hard.
4-Try to use swings from different directions. By that, I mean try to use different swings at the same time with your friend. For example, when your teammate uses one of two sideswings go for a thrust attack so your enemy can not block two swings at once. There are three types: sideswings, thrust, overhead. Left swing and Right swing can be blocked at once so they are in the same catagory.
5-Chamber block (parry&riposte) can be frustrating for your enemy, since it is a considerably hard move to block. If you feel like doing it, it can be very useful. Just be a bit careful with it, that it might cause a teamhit. I wanted to emphasize this, that chamber block is an attack type that does not normally cause teamhit very often, so the player might forget about it's dangers in multicombat.
6-Do not try to block your teammates.
7-Always try to be on your guard.
8-Keep the strategies posted here for the outnumbered guy in mind and try to counter them.

A kind of risky tactic I use when I'm fighting two or more people is just as they swing to run inbetween and past them. Sometimes it doesn't work and you'll get hit if you dont turn and block fast enough but it surprises the enemy and you can land a free hit, or even make them hit their ally!  :D
