Penalties are interesting in a strategy game perhaps, or if everyone had the same penalties, where as of right now it depends on when you logged into the map (reason enough to remove it completely until a better solution is found, imo), which class you play, and even how you play, penalizing people who rely on speed (which is yet another fruit in the turban for str and armor stacking players).

How much does it really affect archers and xbows? For with the athletics penalty it might not be the nerf to ranged it is made out to be. And what about cavalry, anyone got the numbers?

QFMFT.  I seriously cant see half the weapons IG during the night hours.  I cannot stand playing most maps during night cycle because off this, and if you add fog to the mix its farking retarded.

I support halfing the night cycle, and halfing the ammount it rains even if its a direct archery/xbow buff

Thought I was the only one.  Sucks riding into pikemen because I can't see their pike until the last minute.  It's a 15 foot long pole with a sharp point...I can easily see it during the day...

Nighttime eye strain sucks.  I don't really mind rain or fog as much...

That being said the only thing I would like to see is that the weather stays constant for the whole map, and it doesn't matter when you connect everyone has the same weather conditions...having half the people playing in night/fog and the other half playing during the day seems like a pretty big advantage...

I think we should rework rain completely.

If you're wearing cloth, you become heavier, because the cloth is getting wet.
If you're wearing metal, you need to pay extra upkeep, so that it doesn't rust up.
If you're wearing plate, you should start stumbling into the ground randomly because of the mud (since, as cRPG experiences rain a good [made-up high percentage] of the time, the entire battlefield should be comprised only of mud), on top of the extra upkeep.

Reduce the penalty to crossbows and bows from rain.
Reduce movement penalty to make sure cloth-wearers aren't moving slower than a molasses flood

.

Also, make the rain really loud, and add incredibly loud wind sound effects that won't do anything but annoy everyone.

well I decided to play with dx7

with minimum graphic setting

it may be ugly

but I got no more rain!!!
So the new response to ranged ragers is not "get a shield", it is "learn to chamber ranged nub!"

Fail.

Turn off particle effects, no more rain on any graphical setting.

Enjoy.

cRPG makes the Tsunami in thailand look like disneyland  :?
I've never played a server where people split up as much or as often as on EU1.  No wonder range is having a field day.

Please reduce the night cycle!  Rain is one thing, but fighting half the time in the dark?

Why?

1. Because it doesnt add anything to the game but eyestrain.

2. Medieval Battles were usually fought in the spring and summer and during daylight hours.

3.  Even sieges have a history of wall assaults generally happening most of the time during the same above conditions.

4. It sucks

lol

^ this

It should be a pretty unusual condition to fight in rain or darkness.  It should be something we get maybe 1 map in 10, not 1 map in 2.
Crush your enemies; see them driven before you; hear the lamentations of their women.

Does the frequency of rain stem from an error in the code?

Who cares about realism, weather conditions having an adverse effect on gameplay is fucking stupid.  It isn't FUN, so why is it in the game?  Seriously what's the point of it.  To make everybody more pissed off at random intervals?

If you're going to bring realism into the argument you have to be willing to get hit in the face with a fucking hammer and somehow make it glance.
