Paradox is copying Valve who did with with mods like counter-strike and team fortress. Offer to publish it, give them the chance to turn their mod into a professional game.

Paradox has already done this for modding projects with some of their strategy games, like HOI2 and EU3, now doing it for M&M. Would not be surprised if this is project Asinus too.

Personally I think it's great, Devs will get some compensation for their work, and focus their energy full time into this game we love, and will get technical support also from taleworlds/paradox. Maybe they will be able to get Stronghold mode working, and finish the resource economy in Strategus with this backing?

The original CS was still free even after it became an official mod, you could just buy it as a part of package which included both Half-Life 1 and Counter-Strike since you would need a HL1 key to play anyway, as it works with MNB and its free mods. Nothing sinister there.

CS:S is another story though (noob version of real CS!) and today sadly they're pimping the original CS with the "updated" (shitty) version Condition Zero forced upon you, hence the price, quite poor by Valve to not just let people download it for free, but it has more to do with them wanting to evolve the Counter-Strike brand which means limiting the use of other CS versions.
Things don't exist simply because you believe in them, thus sayeth the almighty creature in the sky!

Paradox is copying Valve
valve aren't the only ones, dice have hired modders.

The most retarded war age in a videogame, no thanks. :|

Haha I so agree. I mean only that period could make people killing each other so lame.

Just an idea.

They are just calling it DLC so they don't confuse people on steam...it's really a proffessional total converison mod...

Like Fire and Sword was, and which was also based on real life nations. Also a professional total conversion mod, but was licensed by taleworlds before paradox started publishing M&B.

Caladria itself is basically real world conflicts but abstracted a bit. Originally it was just Swadians vs. Vaegers, Swadians were more Byzantines+Latins, Vaegers were kind of Turks+Bulgarians and the conflict was set in an abstracted Anatolia.

Then they added Nords & Khergits which was a bit more obvious, then some other more obvious cultures with Warband.

People who say the era is rubbish: you prefer mele and everybody respects that, you dont have to buy this DLC. for people who love MM and/or the setting, great! we are getting a pimped out MM, but with support of paradox.

People going on about DLC being not worth it: Wrong-o. warband itself is just a big piece of DLC for old mount and blade, and you dont whine about that. they get a mod, release it as DLC, mod makers get money, mod makers make games, games are good. this is a big chance for future game developers to really get into the business. if someone can go on there computer, buy a game, make a mod. and eventually end up with people paying for it? that is true greatness

I'll definitely be buying this. It is one of my fav periods in history and I loved MM. I don't mind them making money out of something they spent a long time on. Good on them!
