No 2h sword. You can just get a lance, sheild, and polearm (bec, long hafted penis) for dismounted fighting. But if you must get a 2h sword, you're build will be high agility, in order to get the WPF needed for two weapons, and also for riding.

I've got
PS: 5
Sheild: 4
WPF: too much
Athl: 2 (too little)
Riding: 7 (too much?)

IE: i messed my build up. Next is a hoplite/cavalry guy. I would suggest higher athletics than 2 if you plan on using that 2h sword on foot.

I use polearm + 1h for my cav build.

Its actually not a real cav build, but a foot build that lets me play well on horse.  With only 4 in riding and most of my wpf points in 1 hand I use the destrier for some bump / slash and basically just use the heavy lance to fend off other cav.  Works well though, plus I can still do alot of damage if I'm dehorsed.

There's some 2h weapons you can use on horse though like the katana or bastard sword, which can be used with a shield.  Not sure how well it does though.

Most cav go all polearm with a courser.

My cav build only uses 5 riding for my cataphract, I go 1h/shield with a lance to fend off horses, I get most if not all kills with my 1h. The cataphract gives me the ability to get close to any infantry, including pikemen. If your a beginner cav I don't recommend that, just get a courser or destrier and play the hit and run role, avoiding groups of archers.

Yes. In my experience with a horse you can build up the proper speed to severely damage (or OS weak enough targets) anyone. Riding skill takes precedence over Power Strike for most Cav.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

I prefer 21/15 build for slashing, if I didn't retire I'd go 24/15 for slashing.... sure, if you want to lance someone and piss off, then you don't need that much powerstrike. Otherwise, powerstrike is king, generally you can make one slash, better make it count even at less then maximum speed.

I would take the speed bonus of riding over the damage bonus of Powerstrike, More riding makes your horse go faster, which in turn causes you to deal more damage from speed bonus

Powerstrike > speed. The go faster approach only really works on flat ground, and when you don't have to maneuver a lot to get someone, such as when lancing one person and buggering off.

The Bossman has 8 power strike and he is damn good in his game but sometimes I wished he had more power some opponents are that healthy or just too stubborn to die.

The Bossman has 6 Riding and that is necessary, unfortunately, for the plated charger I allow him to ride for nostalgy reasons once in a while.

The most effective cavalry build, I would say 30 strength 12 agility 10 power strike insta-kills almost everyone and thats what you want I d say, and 4 Riding is enough for the Courser/ Sarranid. Perfect.

Less than 24 strength is stupid for a dedicated horseman. So is a hybrid. I have my Penthesileia for anti-cav maps, and the Bossman for cavalry.

Also, 2h for cav doesnt make sense. In crpg you cant use 2hs on horseback.

I would defiently go higher on agi than str for a dedicated cavalry, because a dedicated cavalry will spend more time on his horse than off, therefore high riding is vital. Speed bonus eats powerstrike alive.
