Strat Trade idea

NOTE TO ALL : I havent been to a city for a few strats and i dont pay attention if this already happens then i fail procede to flame :P

So i re read my drunk rambling post and realised something :D using some Eu2/Eu3 features would be epic.

Im seeing a lot of rage due to the trade routes and obviously drz etc have profited from controlling large sections of land next to each other.

So i propose this change.

Marketplaces!

Each City has a marketplace. All cities buy goods at a set price all strat. (a better price then small village-village treks) maybe they should buy at a medium trade route price.

Now this would be a reason to fight over cities and prevent other clans by taking control (ie sending troops to the city to keep it neutral or threatning war if they attack it)

The long trade routes that cross the map would still provide the same gold as they do now so trade alliances wont lose gold. they are riskier ofc but they would make more cash then the cities but not so much to provide a total unstoppable advantage.

This also opens up the prospects for more players trading. instead of one maybe two caravans you could have five or six smaller ones moving to the cities.

This would provide more things for people to do (albeit only moving around :( ) but it would also increase the danger  :D :D Bandits would become far more common and earn more gold from captured crates.

This is only a rough idea and comments are welcome

I agree, something should be done to improve towns.  They should be important trade centers instead of locked down ghost towns.  Here's what the three player owned towns looked like as of a month or so ago:

Shariz

Praven

Uxkhal

I like the marketplace idea.  If it's possible to separate them, maybe the cost to craft goods in cities would still be in the 5-25 range but the selling price would always be permanently higher than 25.  Castles could also have a slightly higher selling price than villages, creating a tier of selling locations.  It seems like, if you're bringing 400 buckets of bull milk from one side of the map to another the rich people in a city or castle would be able to pay more for them than peasants in some small village.

I think it's also kinda weird how towns get locked down with 100 fees, it seems like you'd want to attract people to cities especially ones who can craft unique stuff.  Maybe instead of having efficiency go lower, they could make it inverse so efficiency goes higher (to a certain point) the more people you have in a city.

I'd guess about 70% or more of the EU zone is locked down with 100 gold visiting fees, even 100% taxes in some villages, so there's not many places for people who aren't in clans to work.  With inverse efficiency in cities, this might give all the people who are just getting into strategus or landless small clans somewhere to start and keep them out of major clan's villages too, win win.  A clan might even want to move their people into a city once they take it then start leaving villages open for people to work in but with reasonable fees so both parties can turn a profit.

indeed people may gravitate more towards cities with some tweaks
