Well if you don't press esc and just alt-tab out of the game it should be okay... I'm not sure.

Nah, alt-Tab makes the game crash. Only way is to alt-enter and then Esc.

It's funny, I hear everywhere that the game crashes on alt-tab, but I never had the case, even on my old computer or crappy laptop.

You can always try using the goshdamned windows key that would finally have a use if it works.

If you play in window mode (or alt enter) you do not crash with alt tab and you never need esc. Never. And I often check my equipment at the same moment a tick should come, once closing the tick comes. ;)

When you die and you perss escape (regardless what you do afterwards, equipscreen, rulescheck, start a poll etc) you don't get xp.
This was implemented due to many people at siege who spawned, died and went afk. Perfect leeching without any chance to see whether the person went afk midround or was just actively leeching.

Only chance to get rid of that was by changing the system so that you don't get any xp/gold when you press escape. Now people spawn again on siege and get killed and after some time qml'ed or kicked by admins.

Alt+tabbing out of the game when you are dead is no problem, as long as you don't press escape beforehand.

Alt+tabbing might cause crashed, especially when you do it too often (and it seems especially when you have a multi )
Alt+Enter for windowmode works better and reduces crash chance (can still happen)
As far as I know it's not related to one's pc. It's just mount and blade and it's crappy engine

This is not the case for me, as I regularly check market/forums while dead.

I have paid attention to this and I do get EXP unless I hit ESC.


IMHO what we need is an auto-kick, and some sort of spawn protection (so cav can't kill these leechers on some maps, before they are auto kicked)

This is a seriously stupid feature.

No XP when you have the character stats menu open either (just tested).



Whoever implemented it should flog themselves and undo it.  I must have lost tons of money and XP just from reading the forums between deaths while playing -- the easiest way to do that is to hit ESC so I get my cursor and then slide over to my other monitor.  I can get around this incredibly stupid feature (like I am right now) but it's a hassle.

It may suck on battle but on siege ALL player suddenly started joining the game.
While you had about 5-10 (and more in the first round) in spec all the time you now get 1-5 in spec most of the time ;)

Quite refreshing seeing the people playing the game :p

Test:

Note your XP.
ESC out of one tick.
Get the next tick.
Look at your XP.  You gained more than 1 tick's worth.

Not gonna take the time to do the math but it looks like the menus are stopping the message but not the actual XP -- it shows up in your stats on the next tick (server knows you got the XP even if the client didn't get the message?)

So I think you are getting your missing XP.

It was even said in a patchnote a couple of patches ago that it doesn't work anymore. And I've tested it a couple of times unvoluntarily cause I stayed dead on siege due to being afk for a minute or two and I didn't get anything

Yes because chadz always keeps excellent up to date patch notes which represent the reality of the game...

I'm just sayin, try my test and check your actual XP at the end of it.  Doesn't add up if we're really missing ticks.

Here is a protip kiddo if you want to go afk hit t and then alt tab and you will auto run so you can piss, though I do have over 20 bans from NA 1 so use at your own risk. or get a pee flask and funnel.
