"Ancient Greek sling bullets with engravings. One side depicts a winged thunderbolt, and the other, the Greek inscription “take that” (ΔΕΞΑΙ) in high relief."

i dont think "period" is the issue. crpg has no definitive period, and slings are no older than the bow and arrow, spear, or club.

It would take a talented animator, but keep in mind the proper technique for slinging is an overhand swing, not "lasso" style.
It is like an atlatl in that it functionally extends the thrower's arm.

The biggest thing to me is i think we all want crpg to be fun and cool, and slings are both.
Either way, its good to see some feedback.

even with the period likeyly to be medieval in crpg(but more because some items are from 16/17/18 century)
slings were in use till the 15 century

Slings are impossible as Warband does not support dynamic weapons (hence why no slings, flails, whips, moving cloaks etc).
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

when the sling isnt fully extended by centrifugal force of a throw it is held, pouch with bullet in the off hand, like a crossbow carry. problem solved. no actual swinging/dynamic string is needed.

maybe i am misunderstanding the limitation of the engine

Aren't there slings that work like the womerra (except smaller and with rocks)? They wouldn't need moving parts, just an overhead 1h animation.

Slings don't need to be dynamic weapons. Just make an animation that swings the sling model around, i guess? Might not be super pretty, but, hey?

I knew there were slings in this prehistoric mod for warband. They had the atatcking animation of throwing and the reloading animation of a crossbow. They had the arc of a bow. :s

"... the Greek inscription “take that” (ΔΕΞΑΙ) in high relief."

I laughed, imagining your typical ancient greece guy (super wise, wrote at least one philosophy book and using white pasta as hair plugs) doing that.

Slings could be cool. With the big slings you spin around you could have a crosshair that goes between big and small as you charge it up. So you have to time it to be on target, could be a fun game mechanic

Flails with a detachable spiked ball end. The weapon will then be useless, but if physics allow, it'd be fun to see fucking flail balls flying across the battlefield.

Yes.

Essentially spiked ball slings.

edit; perhaps make the spiked balls out of flint and powdered TNT. So we can have explosions, too.

Theoretically it can be done but that would require superb animation artist and truckload of time.
We don't have any artist in the first place.

hey im an artist
