The old-school game companies retaliate against the usually pretty horrible FPS, arcade-console 'reimaginations' (destruction) of old classics (like the new Fallouts, XCOM and Syndicate to just name a few).

Games like Wasteland 2, Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition and XCOM: Enemy Unknown may herald fair new winds sweeping through the game industry, where words like '2D isometric' and 'tactical turn-based' won't stop a project dead in its tracks.
OMG.  Dude, thank you for telling me about those, they look AMAAAAAAZING!!!!!!!!!

I was really disappointed in Fallout 3 and XCOM looks bad.

Yes, nice reasoning, I'm currently replaying Fallout 2 and the dialogues are just incredible in such a way that you'd never be able to capture with voice actors.
The FACES in those games!!!!  When MacGyver scowled at me I was just like

One of my favorite games.  I won't get my hopes up just yet though, they could really screw this up.
I dunno, it sounds like they're just REMAKING it, with some added features.  Didn't sound like they were planning on CHANGING much.  I don't see how you could mess that up.

Good to know, maybe I'll go back and try to solo then.  I tried to play the first one and as soon as they started talking about companions and wanting me to party up, I was like fuck this noise and alt+f4'ed.
I soloed the second one as one of the prestige class mages.. it had a pet IIRC, and had that spell queue that just wasted everything.  I don't think that class was available in the first game, though.  Tried soloing #1 as a necromancy specialist and failed.

Soloed the first as Specialist mage (don't remember which one, wasn't a necro thought)

Tried to do that in the second too, managed to kill the red dragon solo... but I think I got bored/thrashed in the underdark part...

Tried to solo one of the lich too... OUCH...
A lot of people in the NA community know that Dach rages and in the process of his uncontrollable rage, he tends to kick people.

You've been warned!

I've tried to play the first one with tutu about three times now. RPGs in general I tend to re-roll characters after realizing I don't like the build I chose, but I only get as far as cloakwood. Mechanically it's ok but there's something off about the game that's a barrier for me to go much further. The writing doesn't seem like it knows whether it's trying to take itself serious or not, and in games I do enjoy the occasional self-awareness or breaking the 4th wall but it oscillates too much and some of the disney voice actors are kind of off-putting.
And how!

Can't wait. Would love if they redid Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment too.

Try to give BGII a chance, then, especially the writing is more consistent.

Finally got some sort of preview:

(click to show/hide)

(click to show/hide)

Though the GUI for BGI is from BGII, would like to have the old stony one.

Hope they'll make the new Infinity Engine modder friendly, as well as making the whole thing integrated to D&D 3.5 edition just like IWDII.

So looks like EA has taken hold of Bioware.  Putting out a disaster of a game SWTOR and now starting to repackage and sell old content

Yeah. It's crazy.

You're completely wrong of course.

The publisher is Atari.
Developer is Overhaul Games.
Distributor is Beamdog.

Check your facts before raging, bro. I thought everyone knows that Atari holds exclusive rights to all D&D based games. And that they published Baldur's Gate.

this makes me so incredibly excited. the only other game that i have spent more than 300 hours on is mount & blade. i'm actually playing through BG2 right now. gnome illusionist almost to act 2 (doing every single quest possible of course).

also, in throne of bhaal, you can get two more heads for the flail of ages. something like 1d8 +5 +5 of random elemental damage. Minsc has never been so... Insanely awesome.
ZUUULUUUUUU!!!!

I just made it to Baldur's Gate in the TUTU mod and I pretty much play it 2-3 times a month. I would've been all over this if I had played it when I was younger but the battles just seem to play out in a fashion where I hope there's not a mage around to cast confusion on my entire party causing me to reload several times until it plays out in my favor.
And how!

Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition is out. Just saying.
Well I roleplayed gay for long time to get Asca attention as harmless one but it didnt help. I only attracted Tueten, Cicero and Grey Order...
