The pointy bits.....

So, I would like to know why is it that the developers of the mod seem to think that none of the asians ever figured out how to use the pointy end of the swords they made.
All of these weapons actually HAVE a pointy end, and it is used quite often in the sword forms.
(I suck so dont bother flaming me, I dont care)
I have been doing TaiChi and Choy Li Fut for the last 8 years, and believe me..... the pointy end is important.
Have I mentioned the pointy end enough yet?
pointy end.

side note:  why is there no Jian in the game when there are so many other chinese weaps?  the Jian is pretty much a staple in chinese history, and was carried by officers, scholars and gentleman alike.

Chinese Guard character : Coat of plates, Khergit guard boots, substitute Nordic sword for Jian, khergit cav helmet. Actually looks pretty cool.

This isnt a "katana can cut tanks in half" troll thread.
Its a "why cant I use the pointy end of my eastern weapons" troll tread.

summary:
troll thread.
pointy end.

Usage of pointy end was forbidden in China during 1070 - 1533, because of sexual references.

Totally agree, Its ridiculous that you arent able to stab with eastern weapons. and the one weapon you are able to has ridiculously low thrust damage. Only 2 more than a wooden sword

If you haven't noticed by now the sheer volume of anti-asian, anti-"weabo", anti anything even remotely removed and/or different from white white white alabaster white with a side of white in the community, I think you need your eyes checked.

We didn't add any chinese weapons(yet) as far as I know. We just renamed the Native sabers. Actually Shik did this because of anti-Japanese tendencies after I gave the "strange swords" proper names(katana etc.).

Furthermore we didn't add a stab to the sabers because it would look (even more) strange with the current stab animation. And we are lazy. If you got a decent model + lods for a Jian and donate it to cRPG, we'd probably add it in.

M&B engine does not support stab with highly curved weapons. The hit detection assumes a straight blade and you will get thrust hits when the visual tip misses. This is already a problem with the swings on the scimitars that hit before their mesh hits.

It is also silly that the scimitar is a super fast weapon, when in reality it isn't - highly curved weapons are oddly balanced with any movement that requires even a minor amount of twist. They were not particularly light either as to get a given reach out of a curved blade you need more metal (straight is the shortest path). Making a very light slashing-specialized weapon is counter productive - thrust does not benefit much from inertia so a thrusting weapon can be effective when light, but for hack/slash weight and unbalanced weapon is better.

Jian was a battlefield weapon? Regardless of crouching tiger movie, Chinese did not go into battle wearing a pajama and a Jian.
