Yeah, I already once thought that they were removed cause I couldn't find them in the head armours anymore. Was searching for them in the 10-20 head armour range. This makes absolutely no sense.

I was part of the irc discussion.

Those helmets are apparently heavily armored on the inside - the cloth is only there for looks/probably to keep the sun of the mail.

Those things are only 3 less armour than my Blue Kettle Helmet? THE FUCK?!?!?!?
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

This, which is for all of this type of helmets. They only cover up the top where every other helmet in this class covers neck and sides too.

Yeah it's the only explanation. Because it's even worse when you see them ingame. They should offer nearly no protection, because the coverage is barely better than that of peasant hats. Secondly, I think the mail coif would need a buff if we considered its historical effectiveness.

Remember that almost every single helmet has a mail coif. It shouldn't give better protection than the helmets with mail coifs and additional stuff, but I do agree it should give WAY more than a bloody cap. Even if the cap has metal in it!

EDIT:
Just found this for the lulz.
Seems like a turban doubles the protection a mail coif gives xD

And the Kettle Helmet (a helmet with a mail coif beneath) gives LESS protection than the mail coif with a turban xD

This shit is just so wrong...

Tbh, there is almost no rhyme or reason to the helmet progression, especially with the medium helms.
