Huscarl shield - 2 slots necessary?

Is it really such an overpowered shield that it needs 2 slot requirement? It doesn't seem very popular at the moment from what I see, lots of people already dislike heavy shields cuz they are slow, and the extra skill point/15 AGI.

All shields that have 8 weight or higher are 2 slots, so I doubt they'd make an exception for the round huscarl's shield.  4 shield is all you need, use an elite cav shield if you want rounded shield, or a knightly heater if you want a kite shield.

100 speed + high "body" armor = boss shields.

I would love to use the knightly heater shield, but being a nordic style faction I'm S.O.L.  (jelly of 33 armor).

I'm not positive (about to start a thread asking the question) but I'm pretty sure your melee weapon speed is throttled down to whatever your shield speed is.  So at 80 speed most of your 1h weapons would swing super slow.  That's what I've been told anyways, I don't think it's a 1:1 ratio though.

Shield speed has no bearing on your swing speed. You swing at the same speed no matter what shield you're using. You'll also swing as fast whether you have a shield or not.

Also, all shields animate at the same speed, but that has no bearing on whether they are blocking or not. A fast shield, will block BEFORE the shield is fully raised. A slow shield will block AFTER it is fully raised.

ok I didn't know that all did. Still seems kind of steep tho, that a heavy heater shield (8 weight) takes up twice as much space as 7.5 kite or heavy round even tho it's just marginally better.
