I really love it.
I like it.
I can live with your changes... ... but they might be more balanced.
I don't mind it at all.
No, I don't agree with it.

It's really fine how it is. It's a shorter, faster, cheaper side sword. 1 handers are the most diverse and balanced class of weapons in the game. When I say "balanced" I mean compared to other 1 handers.

Also the argument that it isn't used enough could be applied to many other 1-handers. No need to possibly disrupt some fantastic balancing just so a few more people use a specific sword. I think the devs have better things to spend their time on.

No really, would -1 to difficulty break a whole balance-thing?

I don't think so.

And really, it is not used though it is a good weapon. If they decreased the difficulty, would be MUCH better.

Or rather, not better, but more... useful.

You know that builds are done in 3's. A 7 forces you to be off by 1 in str, or go 9. Taking away that 1, you no longer have your 3's off balance and can go with a 6/something build and max your agility/athletics.

In this case, that -1 difficulty means a new tier of viable build, rather than a slightly underpowered sword getting some love.

All that would do is make the short sword worthless.

Short Sword
weapon length: 81
weight: 1
difficulty: 6
speed rating: 102
weapon length: 81
thrust damage: 26 pierce
swing damage: 26 cut
slots: 1

Scottish Sword
weapon length: 80
weight: 1
difficulty: 7
speed rating: 103
weapon length: 80
thrust damage: 27 pierce
swing damage: 27 cut
slots: 1

As it is, the shortsword is a very niche weapon (though fun to duel with)

What would be your fix for that? Drop the shortsword down to difficulty 3? 1 handed weapons are very well balanced against themselves. Even a little change has large consequences.

The fact that the sword isn't all that attractive looking might deter some folks.....maybe a change so it looks more like a dirk.

Also short sword is already kinda useless compared to the short nordic war sword.

I personally use the Scottish Sword, and therefore instantly notice when someone else uses it as well. In all truth, I see it around pretty often..

I am not an agi build, but 80 reach isn't hard to deal with. People do tend to stay away from it because of its reach, but there are others who enjoy lower reach weapons, like myself.

I love the Scottish Sword how it is.

However, adding just one damage to thrust? Raising the price by 750 gold? Why?

Just use the Short Sword, the stats aren't far off and it would work for your low strength builds. No point changing them.

As far as appearance goes, I would just fix the sheath. It bothers me how it floats half a foot away from my hip.

I am a dedicated Scottish Sword user, but I hope your changes don't pass. One more damage for thrust? At the price of more upkeep? I would hardly notice the difference, true, but then why implement them?

There are old sellswords and bold sellswords, but there are no old, bold sellswords.

Scottish with no shield. You'll hate yourself when you miss, but good times.
