I am curious about this. Who would play on the Community Servers, if they were to come back, for the maps, ping, etc.? This is just out of curiosity; I like the official servers.

It depends on where the servers are located.  If they are in Texas or the west coast then yes.  If its another east coast server then no why bother.

I like playing on moderately filled servers (20-40 players). If this also lowers the official servers down to that amount, I will probably pick the server with a better current map, so most likely community.

Well you say another east coast server, which implies there are others in the east coast. The official servers are in chicago.

One thing that I always thought was funny is that the Official servers are the ONLY Chicago servers I get terrible ping at. Every other Chicago server in this game or any other I get ping in the 20's. On the official though, it's always around 80. It probably senses how much I hate it.

Anyway, I've been wanting the community servers back for a while. Finally some good maps and good map variety and not the same fucking hilly village/open plains maps that seem to be the only things in rotation on official.

On an amusing side note, do you guys remember when the official servers were first announced? Remember how everyone was saying that the server will be soooo awesome that it will never, ever lag? LOL.

Well I've been thinking about doing a poll on the forums for a while, but I finally did it last night. I'd play in Community if there were people in it... just for the maps.

I might be tempted, just for the old ATS maps.  Those were great.

I like the open field, open field, village in an open field, open field, ~village with a wall around it~ (in an open field), open field map rotation as much as the next cavalry, but to be honest they're repetitive as hell.  I get legitimately excited every time one of the old maps comes up, even that godawful one where both teams have to walk up a gigantic hill to fight eachother.

Just put the few ATS maps that were good in the official server rotation and take out all the random plains/steppe ones. Variety is good, having a server heavily bias towards infantry (old ATS servers) or cavalry (official servers now) is bad.
