Mounted crossbowmen were very common. Particularly in your own country, in fact. 'Jyske Lov' decrees for one crossbow per styrisman/mounted man-at-arms per ship in the Danish leidangs-fleet, and the Norwegian 'Hirdskraa' explicitly mentions training and equipping the (mounted) king's guard with bows and crossbows.

Damn... Well that's actually kind of neat I guess.
Eventhough I appreciate some good historical knowledge, I'm always embarrased when someone outside my country teaches me about my own history, hah!
