Eighty short, drinks-filled years ago marked the first such occasion since prohibition went into effect where one was allowed to consume an alcoholic beverage and remain on the up-and-up. After thirteen long years, The Great Experiment ground to a halt and the importance of the American endeavors of booze production and bar-glass tippling resumed again. Let us take a moment to reflect on how much of our country's (and therefore the world's) built-up drinking culture was dashed to bits by that bit of law.
But only a moment! For a drink is meant as a celebration; so here's to the end of that, and the marking of this day upon which we should be thankful for this opportunity fall into our cups without being an outlaw to boot.
