I have no idea.  Only ran into it once as I was hunting deer for leather.  Damn thing jumped at me and took about 30hp off in one bite (not insane, but still enough to notice) and I was all "WTF!? RUN AWAAAAAY"

When I went back I didn't run into it again so maybe it just wanders around?
