History and engravings for heirloom items

Hey,

I was just browsing the selling section of the forums and I noticed Phyrex selling some of his long time stuff. Wasn't really interested about the items but the thought of having an item owned long by a legendary player like himself was fascinating thought. Still though, there is no way to actually prove anyone or even yourself that this heirloom item has an actual glorious history.

Gave me a thought, why not give heirloom items a history of previous owners. This could include each of the heirloomers names and perhaps dates. Wouldn't it be great to own a heirloom weapon that has been there since err... heirloom theft. There could also be engravings for heirloomed items. For each retirement current owner could add a bit longer phrase for the item and it would be unchangeable. Nice but subtle way to personalize the weapon still without affecting the game balance in any way.

History could go somewhat like this:
Wielded by Largg, fifth of his name till 15th June
Wielded by Largg, sixth of his name till 30th July
Wielded by somerandomname, first of his name till 1st October

Give looms some love, they are after all precious heirloom items that have been on hands of many notable warriors throughout the time.

This is actually a pretty cool idea. Not really important in the grand scheme of things but it could be a neat feature. It could certainly promote roleplay and a sense if depth.

like Tydeux mustache helmet, it got a big history!
So the new response to ranged ragers is not "get a shield", it is "learn to chamber ranged nub!"

And what would stop anyone from making another copy of Phyrex' Greatsword, if it could be named freely? It either has to be unique (no other named Greatsword), or it has to be automatically named after the looming user.

I think that's what he was talking about, it automatically takes the name of the user.
