I used to be decent!  Now I'm not!  What the fuck do I do?

EDIT:  Kinda surprised no one said I'm outright shit.

uh...duel? That usually hones my focus up a bit.

I love how most EU players insert an imaginary "f" into my name: Winterfly.

Tried that.  GTX after the fifth swing through my block and person clipping directly through me and hitting with a full-strength backswing.

I sometimes have a bad day, that I am quite shit. I remember earlier this year I also had a bad day, and another one. No good day came after that, it felt I like I had to relearn half my progress. Ah well, I'm better than I ever was now.

Tried that.  GTX after the fifth swing through my block and person clipping directly through me and hitting with a full-strength backswing.
This doesn't have to with skill, prolly lag issues.

Brrrak used to be decent, but then..

(click to show/hide)

To actually post something useful: Yes, happened to me a lot as well: Left the game for some time, came back, got kicked in the rump for hours, until I got my so called muscle-memory, timings etc back.

So, it's totally natural to be a bit, if not a lot worse after leaving for a while.

Actually that happens a lot ingame, even with a stable 30-ish ping. I don't know the source of this issue but I often see people going through each other  and sometimes swings through blocks.

This shit happens all the time. I'm having trouble recalling ever being hit by a properly appearing melee attack. They go straight through my shield, straight through blocks, I'm hit and die either before their attack even starts, while I'm out of range, or first after their attack animation is finished. And sometimes I'm not hit by attacks that at least on my computer clearly hit me.

I've pretty much given up on reason, and just try my best. Reasonable results won't happen in melee. Just weird, desynced stuff that you hopefully can counter most of the time with enough skill.

Basically, after learning block directions you should go off audio cues for blocks because  that half second hold gets me a lot where it looks like my weapon should've blocked but in reality I just let go of the block before the hit connected.
And how!

If you're a pro you're always good. Like Phyrex.

If you're a trained noob, you begin to decay as soon as you reduce your playing time. I've noticed this myself, but I don't worry about it too much. I only trained to become good, now I have no desire to be in the top so I decay and sail to the west.

I'm just becoming worse and worse.

Learned some bad habits when nobody could block and I had 210wpf with my katana. Just take too many risks, don't spot cav, expect to take down enemies fast, relying on them doing mistakes..

I think it's more about your mentality. At first you concentrate to be better.. after a while, like me, one just settles with whatever skill one are comfortable with.. Then all the others catch up, and you have to concentrate again or go mad from frustration.
