There's gotta be somebody interested in making electronic music here... I just want some idea of what people look for in a program that would let them play a live set or electronica/dubstep/dnb/noise etc etc. It's for a personal project.

There is an Electronica topic, I remember myself posting there even.

Quite dead though, feel free to revive it.

I don't understand what's the purpose of this software... playing music (like Winamp), mixing, making or recording it?

I think he means something like those software that can make/mix music.
Something like FLStudio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss3YhPAkUT0

^ I like that.

Well, answering the question: If I could get my hands on one of those, and could actually use it, I would make some bad-ass music, that's for sure.

That's the case, FL studio is not really for mixing, it's for creating tracks.

Mixing software would be... Virtual DJ for example

See? Two sides (tracks), pitch, auto-sync, scratching turntables, etc

Yepp, It's quite famous.

You're correct, FLStudio is more about creating songs, while Virtual DJ is a good mixer.

I hate mixers though. I mean the re-cycling part.
Be original! Lots of people dislike certain electronic stuff because of them, me for an example.

It would have a good manual/tutorial/help for those less educated in matters of music. Tried Reason, didn't understand a thing :(

Yeah Reason is hard :) I was still confused after reading several tutorials, but I managed to make a somewhat decent trance track after like 15 flopped tracks.

Now I actually own a book on how to work with Reason, but I just don't have the time to work with music anymore :P

PS: It really helps if you played an instrument before (best bet a piano) and you know the basics, but it's not a requirement (I never played an instrument in my life).

I was thinking along the lines of Fruity Loops but with the Live aspect of Ableton (so making tracks with audio events that you can affect in real time aka during performance). How does that sound?

That sounds like hard to make :) Such software costs A LOT. Hard to say what features should be in there, best to check other software :)
