(edit just realised its pre build so explains half the high cost, can read my post anyway if u want)

when budgeting a pc for gaming, most of the money should be on gfx card. does kind of seem like your wasting alot of cash on bottlenecked/optional extras. i mean you can build a pc which will get the same fps for near half of what you are spending. as long as you are aware of that.

if your not overclocking the stock cooler does more than enough. plus you dont need super case.

I bought a 320gb hd 5 years ago and dont think i've ever filled it. surely if 1tb is enough.

I really cant ever see my self needing ever even needing all of the 500w on my psu, but i guess thats a tiny difference.

I think youll prolly be wanting to spend a little more cash on a new computer. The setup you showed, especially the graphics card will get outdated quite rapidly. Like Vibe said get a 2 GB card. It will prolly last for 1-2 years longer.

Maybe xfired videocards is an option ? Dont know if there's still that alot of compatible issue's nowadays.

SLI/Xfire GPUs are a waste, the technology (directx support and such) gets outdated faster than their processing power. They might have the power to run the latest games for years to come, but simply won't support the technologies used.
I still think you should consider looking for all the parts separately on the net, would save some money and be able to afford more.

Well, try 2x 8800GTS on SLI, power comparable to some more modern cards, but no dx11 (iirc).

I got crossfire, and I regret it. Would much rather spend the money on a single card!

Gaming PC or Storage PC?

Right now I run two 10k raptor of 35GB each in RAID, and they finally just filled up...

Just buyed a 120GB SSD, that's the way to go for a gaming PC.

The video card is ok IMO, you won't be able to run all the new game in max setting but unless you're a graphic junky you don't need to...

A lot of people in the NA community know that Dach rages and in the process of his uncontrollable rage, he tends to kick people.

Seems like I save up a bit of cash then for an SSD and maybe get the 6990 when it comes out next year. I would build the system myself but I wouldnt know how tbh and I'd rather get someone that knows what they're doing to do it tbh.

It isn't that hard to put a PC together, y'kno. A day of messing about and you will have saved some cash.

Wow 2TB its a bit OTT, and 8GB of RAM is understandable but i have 2GB dedicated Graphics Geforce GT 540M and im running on a laptop, and mine was £300 cheaper than your overall cost. (And i have the same processor) youve overspent on a lot of that

Playing the drums is easy if you know how but I dont know how to do either and I'd have to spend a bit of time learning how to do it and what cable goes where :) Id rather pay someone to do that for me I think.

Well I've found a 1TB caviar green HDD for £40 cheaper. Then ill wait for the next gen of graphics cards to come out next year before I buy anything.

No, I wont be overclocking, hence the 2500 rather than the k version.
Than don't get a cpu cooler you fool!  :) No need for anything else than stock cooler unless you overclock it up to 3.9ghz or higher.

About crossfire/sli, I agree, lots of games have problems running in those modes, sometimes you wont even benefit at all.

Edit: putting it together is very easy, it's not like playing an instrument at all. It's all just plug it in and go have fun. Just watch some vid on how to do so and it'll be easy.

know anyone who can help you put it together? its worth learning, its very simple really. computer software breaks at every possible moment (for me) but plugging/screwing computer hardware together is hard to do wrong with a little knowhow. i actually enjoy it, well ive only build 3 pcs.

Not really but ill look into it. I have an old PC with which im gonna sell off all the old parts so I can have a fiddle around with that to learn.
