first move rook e4?
... Re4?
f3! Rh4
g3 Rh5
Rxd4 Bxd4
Rxd4

white should win
So the new response to ranged ragers is not "get a shield", it is "learn to chamber ranged nub!"

no one got that pretty problem... isatis will reduce difficulty so!

here's an ending problem from one of my game against a WIM, this game was played long time ago so I messed up the thing and got it wrong ( a bit of time pressure also and some dump psychology thing): after that, rook ending become one of my force.

so black to play and win

the thing is already well started, black a pawns up and got two past pawn, but beware it's a tad more difficult than it look

also, to understand why I messed it up, here the game, it's rollercoster all the way!

To be honest, unless the problem is done in less then two moves I don't understand how this is supposed to work since we're not playing a real chess game and I don't understand the motives and intentions of a player just by looking at the pieces on the board.
And how!

the last problem is a peculiar one because it's one of my game ending problem: it's only to get a better understanding on rook ending, the yesterday one is a forced win for black, the other one is also a forced win for white, but with some blocade understanding attach on it.

it is true that a chess problem is never like a chess game, put it will increase your theorical advantage against someone because you'll finally see those tactic you missed.
the motive in the game against WIM was to draw for me and her needed to win badly, i got a bad early position and should have lost, but she made a mistake and I gain upper hand, unfortunately I didn't saw good at the end and it finished in a draw.

here's another of my game, against one of the finnest blind chessplayer of canada ( he was plaing without his special board)
i'm white, he's black.
for the record I played this game rather well and then busted one of my past pawn for invisible counter-play in queen side, luckily for me, my opponoment, play imprecise move making my awful a pawn better, now he is in the struggle, he need to win in order to prove himself he can still teach me something (both of those player where my chess ''coache'')

black to move
now I ask you a question:
do Qc7-b6 is a good move?

if yes, put on why, if no put on why and better move.

Don't think it is clever because then the white pawn on a6 can just keep advancing and threaten the tower while ignoring Black's queen exchange offering. White loses then of course his old queen, but gets a new one shortly after and kills Black's tower. The tower advantage is pretty deadly then in the endgame. The advanced pawn on e5 is good for White too.

boom got it, that was one of the funniest finish I made : a pawn going all the way from a2 to a7 without interruption and winning!

29. a4 Qd7 30. a5 Qc7 31. a6 Qb6 $4 32. a7 1-0

hey hey even if it was because of my opponoment error it's still fun!

Isn't Black fucked anyway? I mean even without sending Queen to b6.

starting position:

bah... yes in a theorical way, but as this is a game with time and because we are human he could have resisted and even possibely draw with move like Ra8 followed by Ra7 and here here's white going to go with loooooong boring way of the kingside majority with f4 and such while watching for those two connected past pawn.

As we know that rook endgame are drawish when all pawn on one side, as black i would try to exchange my two connected past pawn for white one (the a one) and exchange queen leading to this peculiar extremely drawish rook endgame.

the winning is more diffficult than it seem, I must create another past pawn in order to win, this can be done by f4-f5-e6 BUT black can play play h5 and i'm in trouble because the way is longer now, and I can't play g4 rigth away (after black plays 32... Ra7) because of a beautiful pattern of perpetual check... hum, let see if you'll found that one Paul:

position after 31... Ra8 32.Ra1 Ra7 33. g4=
black to play and draw

Like said before,my pawn majority was on kingside and it was a 4vs3 one... so two plan: a) block king side and try to exchange all piece and win a pawn, not realizable
B)  try to bring king to queen side so if he manage exchanging queen my king will be ready to jump into queenside to blockade those pawn and force the win, unfortunately black can prevent this with check so I must be very careful on how I do this.
C) try to move all those pawn on my king side with move such as h3-g4-f4-f5-e6
take a long time but black has nothing to do so go on! it will take looong (aka more chance for black to organize defense and get a draw but i had nothing better to do, and the least I can get is a draw so.)

this could have been a very good endgame, but it finished in a more dramatic way.

thanks!
yes i'm a bit hyperactive when it comes to chess. which is paradoxical because I play 4-5 hours chess games in a total silence...

now, some easy problems to solve!
black to move
mat in two

white to move mate in three

I've never had the patience to play chess.

I might not be clever enough either, but I try to ignore that fact.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened his mouth.
