Most things where best in strategus 1.0. Now everything takes to much time and effort really. Just see as we had to pull out from some fiefs this time around because we could not afford defending our own fiefs.
Same as the Greys did in Toshdar today, no equipment.

Basicly 1.0 best in all areas, and less chance of cheating. specially that you cant have 100 friends farming for you. You had to play cRPG to get gold.

I miss 1.0

Now Strategus has turned into ECONOMY MANAGER SIM
Just a soldier

???? Aren't you with Chaos now??  Isn't village defense this strategus - lets not show up and let you cap all the flags in the first 3-4 minutes of the battle, nowhere near as fun as when everyone would show up on village defense ion previous strat versions.

Our Mala goes by Malaclypse.

Also - there is definitely nothing fun about our village attacks on either side, it is true. The downside to being uninvolved with a large-scale conflict that's happening is that people seem to think signing up against you will cause your favor to tip to the other side I guess. Either that or everybody just likes us so much they don't want to piss us off or cost us gold or something... anyhow fighting against two random dudes for every village is pretty dang boring, and I assume those two dudes aren't having much fun watching their village getting stolen from underneath them either.

LLJK's attack on Tismirr in 3.0 is one of the best times I've had so far in strat. As long as I sign up on the LLJK side against a neutral village, I will almost always get to face a stocked roster.

I honestly think the whole trade system isn't an improvement. It increases micromanagement dramatically and many of us don't want that.

All i want is a big, epic strategus battle once or twice a week. That's enough for me. If i wanted a trading game, i'd go play Eve or something.

Not saying it's bad, just saying it's not what i want from strategus.

The xp gain is not that great, that is why no one shows up. But equipment wise you have a cahnce to fight back now.

That is totally wrong, last 3 defenses we did had the AI bought 5000 head wrappings and a total of 10000 hats for 500 population. So no chance to fight back as it is now. Add as well the 50ish vs 13 defenders and you get a free fief.

I enjoyed the Nordmen battles in Mijayet at least as much as I did any of the battles in Strat 1 or Strat 2, but it's certainly true that there's less going on these days than there was in the first Strat. However, I blame the player base for that rather than the game itself. It's not that the capability to fight battles isn't there because of the trading system or whatever, it's just that most of the clans aren't doing anything interesting.

So where's the "all of them" option anyway? Or is that supposed to be represented by "none"?

So the low defender numbers is the fault of the ai?
The only reason that strat1 battles/sieges had more players was that you got a way more xp than in battle mode.

Lately i had not much time for strat battles and the ones i have fought it was always a peasant army of defenders against another peasant army and not knights and heavy fighters like in strat 1 (and the hordes of archers).

Yeah, I always figured there were two reasons people weren't turning up: fear of reprisals and lack of rewards. The latter should be at least somewhat fixed now, haven't tested it to see if it's worth playing yet but going by what chadz said it's at least greatly improved from what it was after the start of Strat 3.

That is totally wrong, last 3 defenses we did had the AI bought 5000 head wrappings and a total of 10000 hats for 500 population.

I never saw this in any of the battles I played, defenders always had reasonable-quality gear with correct amounts. You should post a thread in Strat Issues about this if you haven't already, with all the relevant details. Dunno, might be a new issue caused by some change chadz made more recently.

Any of the many, many Sumbuja defenses in version 2. Both before the gold wipe and after. I wasn't really around for strat version 1.0 and 3.0 somehow managed to still turn into a world war within weeks despite the map being split to half NA and half EU.

Strat V1, early village battles and some of the first battles of the 22nd-Templar bloc war. Just good, proper fighting. Then people discovered massed ranged spam.

yeah it is basically, no payment and shitty gear, who wanna join ?

if the AI payed as they did before (i rather support a 200 gold for village pr defender kinda rule) so the players actually can get strat gold from a battle and if AI use there gold in a better way. buying 10000 hats and 5000 dresses with 500 population is kinda game breaking.

Whenever I played on AI defence they had good gear, and in Mijayet we used it to kill an attacking army of 1k. Likewise when we conquered Aab by capturing flags we got some very nice gear that the defenders weren't able to use. If there's some new problem, report it.

I agree with you about the gold payments, though, it'd be nice if the AI fiefs just paid out a flat rate instead of forcing people to apply with 0 gold. Then again gold payments are pretty much fucked right now even for factions.
Don't.

I think that is related to the no faction status. i was not able to pay my soldiers before i have created my own faction.
Anyway, are the few hundreds of c-rpg gold that important to you?
