EU maps

after playing several months on the eu_crpg servers, i've found that the map-makers aren't very creative (no offense, i'm still glad you make maps for us), basically there are only 2 kinds of maps: open maps and open maps with a village.

So, instead of beginning to make a whole lot of new maps, i think we should try to use some of the NA maps, as they have many good maps, that are both balanced and creative

Oh, /hell/ no. When I was temp banned from EU (damn you lilith) I went to NA (topping the scoreboard with 150 ping naturally) and my fucking god. Worst. maps. ever.

"O hai let's make a map that is 1) ugly, 2) makes players have 100 less fps than on normal maps 3) unbalanced[o hai these loooong narrow corridors sure will make it easy to dodge ranged] 4) make no sense whatsoever[lava inside a castle, castles with fucked up layout..]

i don't say we should get all maps, but some of them are better than our maps! we have:
Open map
Open map with hills
Open map again
Open map with a village
one more open map with a village
open map with village AND hills
open map...

and so on... kinda boring imo.

NA have some annoying maps, yes, but they also have several good maps

This must have been recent, as the lava in the castle map with the narrow and long corridors is brand new and still in testing.  I expect the mapmaker will change some things if the players don't like it.

On a side note, as an NA Cav player, I wish we had more of your open maps so I can ride around and trounce people :P.

Well, the map with two opposite castles and two narrow bridges leading to eachother high up in the sky sucked some major ass, too. Promoted camping as hell, if you actually are crazy enough to use the bridges you'll get shot by archers (conveniently the map maker thought it good to give archers perfect positions to shoot people walking on the bridges) and held there by melee.

Hmmm... I would like some new maps for EU for sure but there's a lot of maps from NA servers that aren't that good. But if we could apply the balanced and tested ones I'd be all for it. It doesn't have to be a new NA map 'cause it'll be new for us EU players anyway  8-)

No, bloody hell, I don't want the stupid town counterstrike maps.
Best ban reason ever:

I checked, the only Vagabond I found was Wolves_Vagabond_TheCruel, that guy is now unbanned. Ban reason was: "calling Zotte a cockswoggler".

EU will get new maps, but no silly looking stuff like fantasy maps and symmetrical maps.

afaik most of the village maps on EU are actual villages from single player, and thus Strat. I haven't been on NA servers in forever, but just out of pure xenophobia and local pride I'm gonna say our maps are better XD .

Is there a way to make a kind of random map generator?

Ofc not completely random, like trees inside houses and such, randomized but folowing a certain pattern perhaps? That would solve the problem i think.

no it wouldnt, then you would still just get open map, open map with village, open map, open map, open map with trees, open map with hills, open map, open map with village

If it followed a certain pattern, you could change that pattern to suit the demands, for instance a hill map, a city map, a castle, a river crossing.

if there is a way to do it without lagging down lower-end systems, randomised pattern mapping would probably be a good addition.  there are a lot of maps in circulation, but randoms are still worth looking into IMO...

i guess random won't work with walls and buildings and stuff

there are those random plains, random hills and other random shit maps, but they never got anything that looks like ruins/buildings/walls or whatever that tells you there is or ever was civilized life
