A real size for polearms ?

Hi,

Since I play CRPG I ask myself the same question :
Why remove the main asset of Polearms?
Polearms are the equipment most used on the battlefields of the Middle Ages and this for three reasons:
- Size
- Power
- Cost

Throughout the Middle Ages Polearms size varies from 2 to 5 meters and the most common size is 2.5 meters.
It is totally ridiculous to limit a Swiss Halberd at 1.62 meters, for example ...
Knowing this and more than half of the animations are bugged shots for Polearms and most of two hands touch further than ploearms contrary to what may be stated on the site ...

Polearms are already the slowest weapons for this mod (which does not shock me), it could at least keep their real size to get a bit of interest ...
I really do not want to approach the historical simulation in speaking of it (even if it would suit me even more) but to balance the mod that is clearly biased in favor of two-handed weapons that are generally dual weapons and not an equipment used during battles ... and there is a reason ... (actually there is not even a lot!)

Battlegrounds CRPG alas now more like a fight to playmobils showing off their two-handed swords or other frills Japanese who have no connection with the Middle Ages ...
I dream of one day seeing a forest of spears and Vouge walk the battlefields of this awesome mod ...

I WANT A TRUE SWISS Halberd 2.5 meters!

Certain pikes could go up to around 8 meters I think, spears were also in average 2 meters or so I believe.

So basically ingame Pike is now a real life spear :D.

" two-handed weapons that are generally dual weapons and not an equipment used during battles ... and there is a reason ..."

That's how it is in cRPG now. Polearms have way more variety, swords shine in duels.

Polearms have more advantages than 2 handers currently. If you want to start a thread whining solely about historical accuracy, be my guest. But currently polearms are the best melee spec in the game, so don't try to bring balance into this, unless you'd like to get nerfed.

I think the better idea is to learn the game mechanics instead of typing a post on the forums. For example, the "length" for polearms is NOT the length of the model but the distance between the polearm tip and the place on the shaft where you hold a weapon with your right hand.
Warspear is taller than the warrior, while its "length" shown in weapon properties is only 150. Obviously, the length of the model is more than 2 meters, since we aren't playing "Midget and Blade" here.
So, your Swiss halberd is of a proper size.
Polearms are already the slowest weapons for this mod (which does not shock me), it could at least keep their real size to get a bit of interest ...
Sure they are "slower", "shorter", "less damaging", and "generally inferior to any other weapon type"... That's why lots of people switched to polearms after the patch.

"Polearms have more advantages than 2 handers currently"

I really do not see why ... a bit about your development if you want to be helpful in this discussion ...
Then read my post through and you will see that I do not want to make this game more historical.

That finally if I wanted to talk about history I do not think that will be with you ...  :?

I know all this but trying to explain the slightest interest to keep a Polearms by his middle ... if you do not use any length why not have a shorter neck ...

Now it would be more interesting than people who know what they are talking (polearms users) about are involved in this post instead of useless trolls ...

Everyone who knows what they are talking about knows that polearms are superior to 2h in the battlefield.

To elaborate:

You can have-
- Anti-cavalry
- Anti-shield
- Knockdown
- Long range
- Speed
- Damage...

And the best thing? There are some weapons which fit all these categories, without having to sacrifice anything.

Also, the polearm animation is superior to 2h when fighting more than one player.

Compared to 2H, polearms already are faster, longer, cheaper, have STUN, a lot more versatile, very efficient with low WPF and the best polearms have bonus dmg vs shield.

So yes, by all means give them more lenght.

And you find that normal parry thrusting of spades with a sword with two handed sword ?

And no polearms are not longer... Longer is minus 1 meters more, less is useless...

The first sentence in English, please?

And you just plain suck if you think that length only matters if it's more than 1 metre longer. Seriously. You suck hard. Even 1 more length matters a lot.

Why are you all talking about this polearm "stun" thing so hard? wether I get hit by a 1 hander a polearm or a 2 hander I get the same sort of stun, you guys are just trying to justify how you all suck balls D:

I also for one find 2 handers easier to use than polearms and stronger than polearms even though I use polearms, I can lolstab peoples so hard with a 2 hander, even easier than before.

I mean, not to be an asshat (Actually maybe, I've been an ass to EVERYONE recently, irritation problems etc) but PLEASE, just PLEASE bring in all those arguments when you actually know the mechanics of the game or how to be decently good to the game.

Not to be an ass again, but Heroin you're pretty SHIT at blocking so wether you use a 2hander or polearm you'd get fucked, so how can you decide polearms are infinitely better than 2 handers if you suck with both.

XANT :

I think it should be impossible to bloc a Thrust by polearm without shield....

And secondly, if you dont want to understand is that Polearms are ridiculously degraded, come here and see me as I will kick your pimply teenager ass with my IRL vouge ...

JUSTME :

Yes, i prefer. Gameplay is better than speed.

In your starting post you complained about the polearm length being too small. I told ya this is not the case, now you tell me you knew it? Why have you started this thread then?
Now it would be more interesting than people who know what they are talking (polearms users) about are involved in this post instead of useless trolls ...
Just in case, I have a 2h swordspammersman (actually, I use 1 1/2 weapons most of the time on the battle servers), polearm cavalry, 1h+shield turtle user, and a thrower, so I know what I'm talking about.

As for me, currently polearms have the best price/value ratio among all the weapon types.
