Oh nvm then, I'll buy chain mail gauntlets. TBF they do look really good, thats alot of armour when you loom it :S But still I wonder if it would be better than looming my italian sword (seems quite good) or maybe even jarids.

Italian Sword and Langes Messer are the best all around swords.

Langes stab is pretty decent actually when fully heirloomed and when it chops everyone feels it.

Langes messer is a good choice but the longer the better. If you have high agi you can play with short-reach weps. If you go high str, you need highreach weps. It's easy.

I will agree with Langes and Italian sword.  It seems to be what you are looking for.
Also, consider the Nordic War Sword.  All very fast.

The Knightly Arming and Nordic Champ sound too slow for your taste.  They are good swords, but they are slower among the swords.  Only the Arabian Cav sword is slower.

All the the swords mentioned will have good trade value should you want to change it later.
If you don't mind shorter weapons, check out the Italian Falchion or Grosse Messer.  I personally like the short ones, but it's up to you.

ALL armour affects your wpf. Helmets and Gloves especially. The higher the armour, the bigger the wpf penalty. Head armour time x3 and gloves x2. Since the gloves have low weight and "only" times x2 calculated weight, they are on of the best armour-to-weight wise, but they STILL affect wpf. Not "only" helmets like you said. Stop spreading false information.

If you know you are going to keep throwing as 2ndary weapon, do not heirloom gloves first, do body armor

I used the Italian Sword for a long time -- really liked it, but I eventually settled on a Grosse Messer.  It's shorter, but I noticed that the Grosse typically required one less swing to kill most enemies which meant all the difference to me (of course this was before the damage tweak so who knows now).  The stab on the Italian Sword is really nice but stabs with 1H weapons are notoriously finicky, have a tiny window of effectiveness (meaning they glance in many instances when they should not) and those glances cause a delay/stagger.

On the other hand, cut damage was more negatively impacted in the last patch, while blunt and pierce were boosted -- so the Grosse is bit less effective than it used to be.

The Langes Messer is nice too - bit more reach than the Grosse, but less than the Italian.  However, it's slower than both.

While I liked the reach of the NCS and the KAS the slower speed was VERY noticeable.

Another great option is the Broad One Handed Battle Axe -- it's a bit shorter and a bit slower but has the highest damage of any 1H and absolutely shreds shields.

Screw swords get a pick. I don't like to hit things more than once or twice. Even with 3 athletics and heavy armor pick is doable.

Most ignored sword of all, the Italian Sword.

Its great fun, and it looks so pretty.

Totally depends on your shielder style but I really like the Italian Falcion for face hugging. Huge power for such a tiny little thing.

The langes facemesser is a great sword. When you shield goes down you can pop to 2h and get a speed and dmg boost.
