Re-balancing suggestion of heirloom weapons

It seems to me that the biggest balancing is when a given weapon is heirloomed.  This is the especially case with the steel pick, which has had a couple threads primarily about its MW form.  My suggestion, as a remedy for most of these balance issues, is to remove any increases to speed given by heirlooming a weapon.  For many weapons balancing issues stem from MW weapons crossing that fine line between fast and too fast.

What do other folks think?  I'd be happy with improvements for only weapon damage and weight.

It seems like melee weapon heirlooms don't make too much of a difference (imo), at least not compared to all things ranged or armor. I say if anything buff it!

Heirloom a weapon... +2 damage, +1 speed. Varies.

Loom heavy armour -> +7

hmm. perhaps it is not a straight relationship.

leave the meager +1 speed alone!

My main problem with most 1hers, such as the pick, is not so much the speed, but the fact that I can't really see it.

Because of power strike, + damage can not be directly compared with + armor. It also depends on the type of damage. All said and done, +7 armor does not mean -7 damage. It's still "better" than +2 damage of course, if you value offense and defense equally high (which is a mistake, but that's another topic).
