You'll note in exchange for being 1 slot and having 2h mode, it is actually a good bit shorter than the bastard/longsword, and slower / little bit shorter than the katana.  I honestly think the slots are fairly balanced currently.  Though the fact that the Langes is the #1 sidearm of choice probably means it should be balanced in comparison to other sidearms.

The other swords are all 2h and have higher damage and higher speed.
That is why they are 2slot ;)

As a side note the langes performs at 100 speed in 2hand mode btw or maybe 101 I forget the exact speed been a while since I used it also most archers do use 2handers still aka the mace. I think the swords that can be used 1handed with shields like longswords should be 1slotters as well.

These weapons do not need a buff.  Asking for a 2 slot weapon to become a 1 slot weapon is a asking for a buff.
