if youre are losing money, multi should dictate how much gear you wear

1x = 10k
2x = 20k
3x = 30 & above. use your best to defend multi

If you want to constantly rock 60k, you'll need a stash of gold, most likely from selling a loompoint.

A better strategy, that Diggles suggested, is to have two different sets of equipment, one for low multipliers like x1 and x2, and then your good stuff for x3, x4, and x5.

Why can't you go under 60k? Are you heavy cav or something? If you're a melee, then you can often take a cheaper version of the weapon without sacrificing too much.

Playing smart is more helpful for surviving than using heavy armour.

I suggest you to use cheaper armour at x1 and x2.
That way you should still be able to use your best primary weapon every round.

Hey guys, can anyone here give some tips to survive the plague that is upkeep? At level 30 I estimate me equipment will be 60k+ in total cost, and I need ways to cover this. I am already going to sell a loom point, but what else can I do? Thanks!

It takes a long time to get to level 31, you should heirloom something for yourself instead of selling it.  I just finished heirlooming my 17.3k cost kherghit elite armor and it's stats are now 21 weight 59 body 23 leg.  That's the same stats as regular milanese plate armor which would be almost twice the upkeep cost at 31.6k and has 7 more weight.

My cheap set is: leather boots, scale gauntlets, sarranid guard armor and mail coif for 15.8k total (20k with mace)

My cheap set is a straw hat, short tunic, wrapping boots and a hafted blade at 5,374g.

Repairs are like 400g. But since I have wpf in polearms, it's usually 0 xD

If you keep retiring, you should make a reasonable profit in the levels below 20 or 25, because you won't be wearing your heavy gear.

Also consider upping agility first and strength later when leveling, that way you increase the time you run around in light gear a bit.

That should allow you to wear the 'heavy' gear loadout on the levels above 20 or 25. But yeah, 60k is a bit much perhaps.

60k is pretty fucking heavy armor to never take off. Are you sure you CAN'T take that armor off?

What in gods name are you wearing anyway?

I just about break even with a 77,991 Gold loadout (After reducing the increased gold cost of heirlooms)

If you do well enough to get x5 regularly you could use 60k worth of gear and make a profit I would think.

I am going to be using Flamberge, full gothic plate, with heavy plate hands and leg armor. I have a low multi armor set, but I really only use it on x1 and x2.

You should really try to go half-naked with your flamberge. If you use the higher movement speed and agility at your advantage, you can even be better than with heavy armor on. Moreover, you will improve your skills much faster. But keep in mind you can't play the same way. Exposing yourself to arrows will be a lot more risky, while you will be able to switch targets more often in melee.

I do not know what the 'wow' is about, considering this is what alot of people use. In fact I am using regular gauntlets (many people go for heavy, which are ALOT more expensive) and iron greaves, which are also a cheap alternative. I was told flamberge works well with heavy armor (I am also 'copying' random dudes armor and build).
