[STATS] Give Robe same loom benefits as other armors

Matey already made a poll to do this for all light armors which is fine with me, but I specifically think the Robe needs to have greater benefits than what it currently has has. The Robe, being a rather bulky item of clothing has more room for improvement than some other clothes. Additional hardened leather or metal plates could easily be fit within the thick sleeves of the robe. By the time the robe is reinforced(3rd heirloom) it should be significantly stronger than a plain robe. As it is now, heirlooming my gauntlets actually provides more benefit to total armor than heirlooming the robe itself.

Current Robe Stats: 1st heirloom= +1leg, +1body; 2nd heirloom=  +1leg, +1body; 3rd heirloom= +2leg,+2body

Proposed Stats: 1st heirloom= +2leg, +2body; 2nd heirloom=  +2leg, +2body; 3rd heirloom= +3leg,+3body

Note: This poll does not address the issue of whether or not any looms should have weight penalties that come with their armor upgrades.

Yes, making small changes such as this are what really keeps a mod like cRPG alive.

The Robe, being a rather bulky item of clothing has more room for improvement than some other clothes. Additional hardened leather or metal plates could easily be fit within the thick sleeves of the robe.
This need a counter argument: Masterwork doesn't mean that there is anything new stuff added to the item. It means that the item is made out of the exact same materials as a normal one, the crafting process is what changes the stats. When the item was created, there was a master at work then :D
If you use larger amount of material to craft the item, or completely new materials like the hardened leather or metal plates you mentioned, the weight should also increase. So I suggest the following stat changes:
    Proposed Stats:
    • 1st heirloom= +2leg, +2body, +0.5 weight
    • 2nd heirloom=  +2leg, +2body, +0,5 weight
    • 3rd heirloom= +3leg,+3body, +0,75 weight

Light armors are light. They are thin and there is not so much stuff in them that could be improved by better craftmanship. Also, ingame-wise giving light armors better bonuses would flip the game balance around. Getting +7 body armor to an armor with 7 body armor as it's base value, would mean 100% increase. On black armor, that +7 to body armor means only +11,666666% increase.  The lighter the armor is the greater is the effect of heilroom bonuses.

You use the word masterwork, but that is not is not the term used in Robe heirlooms, the actual levels are Surdy, Thick, and Reinforced. Reinforced specifically implies use of additional materials to support the armor. The weight issue is a good point as it is something the balance devs should consider, but I do not feel belongs in this specific debate as that is something that should be considered for all armors, not just Robes, i.e. Reinforced and Thick Black armor likely should be heavier as well.

Light armors are light. They are thin and there is not so much stuff in them that could be improved by better craftsmanship.
Also I have to disagree with you on this, because it is light and thin, that opens it up to far more improvement than heavier armors. Not only is there the ability for better craftsmanship, but there is the ability to give additional armor without it becoming to heavy. You could make a piece of armor twice as thick as a base version, but in most cases it would block the same things and have the same weak points, however if you make a robe thicker, or insert hardened leather or steel plates into the lining, suddenly it becomes far more effective againist various weapons than just a plain robe.

I dunno, someone who could make a steady supply of masterworked light armor could make some nice cash right now in Strat.

I'll agree.  Bumping light armors to +7 armor on third heirloom would bring more variety and versatility to builds.

Its either that or nerfing mid - heavy armors to the same +4 that light armors get, but that would be a huge hit to armor looming.  26 mil XP is quite an uphill fight for +4 armor, haha

Also, cut it out with the realism.  I appreciate Warcat's notion of slipping reinforcements underneathe, yeah ballin, thats using your imagination!  But I'm also forced to acknowledge that it would increase its weight like some others said, but that eliminates the point of looming light armor.

What has me interested in giving Med-Heavy and Light-Med armors the same armor bonus is simply uniformity. Whether that's a +3 body jump for light or a -3 body jump for heavy, I don't care, and I also see no reason to add weight to light armor looms unless weight would also be added to heavy armor looms.

I think any of these heirloom upgrades to armor would likely add more weight, but like i said earlier, that's a bit of a separate discussion. Personally, even if it did add a slight amount of weight, it would still be worth using as a light armor. If by the 3rd loom the weight on the Robe was completely doubled to a weight of 2 along with the additional 3 armor, it would statistically become like a leather vest with some leg armor.
