After seeing all the people on the servers starting to mass on 1h picks I think it's time to take a look at balancing these weapons compared to their counterparts.

I don't want to see a nerf to 1h weapons to be honest since it is at the bottom of the barrel right now but something needs to be done about pick weapons.

I dont see what your problem with pierce 1h'er is.  They are short as shit and you have to get in peoples faces to stand a chance of getting a hit off.  Most 2h'er have better footwork than shielders and you get hitslashed to death anyways

on NA, 1H picks/pierce do not even account for anywhere close to HALF of shielders.

I rarely see good players use the pick if not for "lulz" on NA.


Often times, you can't approach with the steel pick. You only have 1 viable swing if you're unsure if the opponent will backpedal at the last second: Right swing. 1h right swing is pretty slow compared to the others without massive turning. If you try to approach any sort of group, you automatically get surrounded since you need to get so close to the opponent.

I think the pick with shield is fairly decent at 2v1s, but without the shield it is pretty useless compared to longer weapons, since you'll never be able to reach, and will only get hit after you miss swings. It is also pretty good to get inside the range of the opponent and quickly dispatch him before his teammates reach you.

+ I believe shorter weapons provide faster running or acceleration. Whatever.

I use the pick, and often times mostly get kills from helping teammates or when in 2-3 v 1s against easier opponents because of the pick's speed.

The only time I take the pick is if there are a lot of tincans on the other team. Otherwise, the longer reach of 1h swords makes them preferable.

Yeah, agreed. Although with 7 PS, I prefer swords against most tincans too. The reach helps even more against them as they're so slow.

I agree that picks are OP, at least in relation to the other 1h weapons (espcieally the other short, powerful 1h weapons (Hammers, axes)).
Nerfing them or buffing hammers would equal this out.

Picks are useless against multiple opponents once the shield breaks compared to other 1hs. Your shield has a higher chance to break, since you have to block more often in order to approach.

 If you say that you should bring a better shield, the 2 slot shields would prevent you from equipping a polearm for cavalry, and the pick is one of the worst weapons against cav. If you say to bring a heavy 1slot shield, then that defeats the purpose of having a quick, fast 1h weapon with a slow and clunky shield.

Picks already have counters to them. In order to get multiple kills, you have to penetrate inside, often among a group of people. You can't play the range game against a row of foes since the range is too short. You have to risk getting hit to land a hit yourself.

All in all, the short 1h weapons definitely have flaws (that can be overcome by using multiple weapon types). Maybe the hammer is a little weak, though, in comparison to the pick. However, I disagree that it's better in comparison to the other top 1h weapons.

So instead of listening to the "community" the balancer team decided to buff their own classes instead, which seemed more reasonable to us.

Sounds fair, but some may argue that your class is not buffed enough.
