I just wanted to throw this out to the community, I'm sure theres somebody out there  who could make a 'How to practice/train' guide, thoroughly detailed. I can imagine it would be a great read.

Play SP during one month. Then play Native MP during one month. Then start cRPG and be appalled because you are still a noob here. But a better noob than just buying the game and playing cRPG right away.

1. Learn the basics of how to attack, how to block, and the differences between attack directions (some are faster, some have more reach).

2. Learn what chambering is, and how it can be done.

(i learned these first two points by watching a youtube vid)

3. Learn to go to crpg.net to get equipments and build stats.

4. Play siege over and over. (Battle has too long of a respawn timer to get good play-time experience in.)

There, I did it!

Yeah, but looks like you're CBA to actually link that damned video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9jHcZjWw9U&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZZnl09qBKM

These are more than a year old, but the basics didn't change.

Once you are experienced enough, Battle will actually allow you to play more because you'll often survive until 30secs before the round ends. And siege experience is very different. Awareness isn't the same, good positioning isn't the same. You only learn melee combat. And yet not in the same context, as melee fights in battle usually involve much more people at the same time and you have to watch all the enemies. It's ok for learning advanced blocking (when good bots aren't a challenge anymore) though.

I've been meaning for a long time to make a video series on how to ge tbetter, how to master the different features, learn tricks, etc.
I just... haven't done it yet.
Also, I have declared myself #1 NA hybrid thrower
Formerly known as Marathon.
As an NA admin, I am the most laid back and concerned with the ~fun of the game~ above all other factors. I've also been super inactive since Summer 2012. University takes most of my time, but I still find some time to play when i can.

If you haven't already, watch Reapy's Infantry Primer.

For melee practice, just play duel 'till your eyes bleed. Try to challenge people who usually beat you (but don't refuse duel offers from people who don't). You'll eventually learn all the little melee tricks that people use, and you'll get a feel for the different playstyles players use.

For practice working with a team, play battle. Pay attention to what your team is doing, and act accordingly. Don't be kill-greedy (it is better to not swing at all than to swing and hit a teammate). Don't run into hopeless fights. Try to keep track of your surroundings, even when engaged in melee.

Siege is really fun, but I find that it usually lacks the element of teamplay that makes battle so interesting.

Siege is really fun, but I find that it usually lacks the element of teamplay that makes battle so interesting.

That's curious...I find just the opposite!

Battle always seems to devolve into 1v1 or 3v1 "duels".  Seige has the objective, requiring (and prompting) more spontaneous teamwork, like covering someone while they open the gate, setting up a defense at a choke point, etc.
