Disarming?

What do you guys think about disarming in combat? For example, when you get trampled by the horse youve a chance to drop your weapon/shield (thats how it is in Vikingr, iirc). Or maybe just in combat when certain factors are there your weapon might be knocked out of your hand? It would add a lot od depth, like carrying a backup weapon in your spare slots or scavenging for a weapon just to have something to defend yourself with.

In real life, when people insult me (and it happens very rare, cos I am a big guy), I often punch them in the face.

Depends. Vikingr tends to lend itself to careful tactical players who work well together, if you put this in cRPG the masses would outcry and it would be removed from the sheer volume of outrage. I am very much in favour of this kind of realism, the kind that encourages teamwork. But there a hell of a lot of horses out there...

If you are disarmed, you are dead from some random chance screwing you.

To test this, during a fight try switching weapons in the middle of it. Your opponent gets one or two free hit.

I am sorry but I am not a big fan of random factors.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

Maybe only if you get chambered, and even then the chance should be like 10%.

I might add that it's an interesting idea, but I don't think it's that crucial of one though. Perhaps in a distant cRPG future when the devs have added so many features they find difficulty in coming up with new ones.

+1 anyway.

+1 with the chambering, also, maybe it shouldn't be random, but dependent on the weight and your wpf in the said weapon.

Maybe a combination of that and chance factor.

Anyway, would like to hear devs' input. They never seem to, and I'd really like to know what they deem do-able and not.

+1, both on what you said and what you +1'ed. It should NEVER be anything random unless there is NO OTHER WAY for it to be implemented. Maybe after chamber and if the weigths/wpf is high enough (statbased, like crushtrough) or something completely different. As long as it isn't random I'm all for it.
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

Getting disarmed near more than 1 opponent = instadeath. Not a very good idea.

I would love some form of disarming.  Perhaps make it Strategus only like the soon to be archery/shield changes?
