Yeah i played cod4 heavily and havnt found a game other than warband to fill the gap...

I hit 2000 hours and have done 1000 hours of crpg. Hopefully bf3 will be good, seeing as mw3 has nothing cod4 had.. : (

This is one of the reasons why CoD went downhill after 4. It was the best call of duty game ever, I wasted months playing only that game, and administrating a server for it.

But what now? They dumb it down for fucking consoles, add stupid crap that.. ah well anyway, Battlefield for the win!
I can only hope that DICE has grown out of using shitty netcodes and crappy hit registration. How is it? My PC couldn't even launch that, telle me.

Well I filtered the server list by Europe and it still showed servers and players playing... not sure what's up with that.

Pretty much both CoD & BF3 will punch you in the face in one way or another, CoD with their stupid non dedicated server crap coupled with the console gamers are god attituted while EA will sting you with ridiculous legal issues and EULA rules.

Actually a german Magazine tested the EULA of Origin with a Lawyer specialized in social-media and copyright.

The results are pretty bad:

1. Origin scans your pc all the time (unannounced in the background) for illegal copys of not only their but general pirated software. So say goodbye to pirated games/software when using origins. I wouldnt risk it.
It scans your Hardware, Media, and Software und your usage of them.

2. this information is additionally used for marketing and advertising.

3. they wanted to get access to all private communication too. Though they took that out of the newest revision of the EULA.

4. they say with accepting origin, you accept that all your legal cases (if existing) will be ruled under British law and that only British law is used.

5. they will get details of your usage through and of/with your ip-address and mac-address (which is utter bullshit because they say they only get info which is NON personal data. If they save your ip-address and more specifically your MAC-Adress your data IS personal and can be assigned to your persona...)

6. They say they can use (and show openly) ALL information (inclusive your personal data) if they "suspect" you are doing things outside the law.

7. They say they can send all data in and through several countries (included USA, Asia, Australia, etc) without user-consent. This could lead to usage of your private data in some serious bad ways.

8. They say in case of legal differences your only way of taking action is to get rid of Origin. Which would mean you cannot take LEGAL action.


Needless to say all of these paragraphs are at least in Germany against the law and in this form not legally binding.
They will however be a really annoying hurdle if for example:

EA sees pirated software or media (media contains movies, music as well) on your system and forbids your access to Origin or even takes you to court about this.

Uses all your data for marketing-purposes

Your data gets stolen/bought by a third group (PSN anyone?)

and some other examples i cant think of because I'm at work.


Even with some revisions they made what they do is pretty much evil and everyone who says "I dont care, let them send me spam" is naive and could rue the day he said this/got origin.
Basically all what you are doing on your computer while Origin is installed is used for something or the other from Origin. It acts as a kind of pseudo-legal spyware.


The thing that some people dont get is: They just dont do all this so they can send you better spam-mail. Of course thats a part of it, too.
But a really big part of that is so that they can analyze basically everything you do on your pc. Which in my case is a lot.
And i dont want some big greedy company to know how i behave on the internet. that is my private life and they dont have a right to know any of that.
And not even just that. They try to sneak an illegal form of copy-protection into that. Which is not even only for the one game (BF3) but for all software. AND Media too.
Lets face it: Who from us has not once copied a game, Microsoft Word, a movie or even a lousy little mp3? What they do with origin is basically try to get the legal right to actually search your harddrives for all that to build a better case in court against you.

People who just dismiss this as a way of sending better spam-mails are uneducated on the subject, which is the reason why EA hid all this so deep in their rights.
And if you know all this but still dont care even a tiny bit you are just plain stupid.
