Deus Ex Human Revolution

I am disappoint. There's no thread about Human Revolution nor the Deus Ex series itself!

Such a great game. Haven't probably played such a fantastic game since Half Life 2. Yes i might get alot of shit for saying it but dammit. Human Rev is amazing. Storyline is 10/10 and top notch. The music sounds like it's made in heaven and gameplay is incredible.

Being a conspiracy nut myself i just marked out when i played it :P

So after i had played thru it i just had to play Original Deus Ex (Deus Ex 1) since i had completely missed it when it came out back then. And damn love it too. But HR is spectacular.

If i had to complain about something in HR it would probably be ''A little bit sloppy AI, sometimes it's like they're blind as bats''. ''A somewhat limited augmentation powers unlock system, when you're at the end of the game it feels like you almost have every aug''.

Otherwise it's great. Graphics are maybe not Crysis 2 or jaw dropping but they're over average atleast.

Anyway...anyone else playing/played Deus Ex Human Revolution here?

Currently loving it. Taking forever as I want to look at every square inch, but I love it.

Currently still doing my first run. Hardest setting (Give me Deus Ex), Pacifist run (Only kill bosses), and going through levels knocking out every single enemy in melee (reflex booster helps) without causing anyone to be alarmed (Getting Ghost consistently as well as Smooth Operator/no triggering alarms).

Next runthrough I am imply going to run through guns blazing, as I have fired two stun rounds and one tranq round in the entire game so far not counting boss fights... and I want to leave mass carnage everywhere next time!

Love the hacking, lotsa fun trying to nab everything.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

I liked it, more or less, although I think it could have ended a bit earlier. I felt when you
(click to show/hide)
, would have been a good point to bring it to an end. after that it felt like the story was more like.. slapped on the end.

what really bugged me:
xp for taking out enemies. i literally cleaned levels just to get xp. fail gameplay.
xp for hacking terminals: i even hacked my own pc to get xp for it. not that bad as the one above, though.
energy system: pretty weird that only the last slot recharges. and i dont want to eat a power bar so i can punch someone in the face. i understand that this was done so you cant just melee all day long, but some compromise would have been neat.
augmentation system: what i really loved about dx1 was that very last aug you got, that either buffed all augs or made them energy saving, iirc. was a very nice touch, i was hoping for something like this in here, too. i was disappointed.
ending:
(click to show/hide)

in general, i'd give it a 8.5/10, and would say in some regards it's better than the original, in others worse.

Do it. It's really epic to say the least. Steal it, rent it, buy it do whatever you can to get your hands on it.

And yeah i'm big lover of Cyberpunk settings as well. Doesn't sound like something incredibly fantasy-ish either. You never know what humanity can accomplish with science and research lol.

By the way anyone tried Deus Ex Invisible War? I've heard alot of bad things about it = Dumbed down console port, universal ammo etc.. and also good things about it. What are your opinions on it? o.O

Holy shit. That's... that's EXACTLY how I am doing it! I'm currently on the "Lowbrow Gun-nut" guy, super loyal to SI (guess which ending I'm gonna take xD). It really is great. After beating it with no gunfighting, I really felt like playing a shooter. So I just started the EXACT same game and went lowbrow gun-nut dude :D

It really is a great game, even with it's few flaws. It really feels like the old RPGs, at least for me, and that makes all the (few) bad stuff durable. Not like the RPGs of old didn't have quirks like this one too.
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

I like it more than the original one, which was utter crap story-wise.
Human Evolution is a way better here (something fishy here, something fishy there, which lead us to another clue).

But where is light, there is shadow as well.
There is no real specialisation, you can use every weapon you want and i was not half though the game and had every important augmentation to choose every possible way.
The hacking minigame was nice, but why someone hides credit depots in a doorlock? And why i get no xp if i have obtained the password on another way than hacking?

The overall story was good, but the end is really weak. And because you need only to load the last save to watch all four possibilities i have no reason to play it again (well maybe for a "i don´t ask any questions" run).

As much as I love the voice actor for Adam Jensen, I do crack up every time his accent slips out. Anyone else notice it time to time? I think it is a Boston accent, or Chicago.
