Using a shield doesn't lower anything but movement speed and maybe feint speed(tied to shield speed). Exception are 1 1/2 hand weapons like bastard sword, katana and morningstar.

I mean, they can speed it up a little bit or slightly buff damage, but I'm not sure if any other 1hs really care enough to want this.

1h no shield is very fun, especially if you can pull off winning a 3v1 or more.

Hell yeah it is, and making it a bit more competitive wouldnt hurt, at all.

i dunno... when my shield breaks i usually speed up enough to throw off a lot of opponents who had gotten used to my rythm with the shield.
