And now for something completely different... (kudos if u get the reference)
Decimator paused. He blinked his eyes several times as the smoke from his torch stung them. The flickering light gave glimpses of the dark, dank and grimy passageway he was in.
How long had he been down here? Hours certainly. Days? Possibly. A week? Surely not a week. His dwindling supplies begged to differ.
If somebody ad told him of lost cities covered by ages, hidden from the world, he would of laughed in their face. How could the buildings support the weight of all the ground above it? The roads and pathways between them would be covered for sure.
True enough, when he began his search and found a few holes in the ground, they just led to small stone buildings, mostly houses.
After a few days of searching the surrounding land, he had climbed the large, steep hill that dominated the landscape. Searching among the boulders, rocks and crags, he found another cave, but this one seemed to have no end and, more importantly, no sign of the relics he sought.
Decimator had been able to keep his bearings for the most part. His initial descent followed a less and less pronounced spiralling curve as he ventured on.
Then he had encountered a series of passageways. He followed the larger, main one, ignoring the smaller passageways that intersected it at regular intervals.
