Antarian History Prologue:

2000 years ago the Antarian Empire ruled the known world. From Calradia to Ponovosa and beyond. Many Empires have existed on this world and many have endured for ages. The Antarian Empire endured for longer than most - because of fear. Fear of The Void and its death priests. In every City, town, village and hamlet sacrificial altars were built. Every year, human sacrifices were made to The Void and the Empire grew stronger.

The Void is a Dark Entity unknowable to an ignorant and insignificant species such as man, but certain facets can be gleaned and harnessed.

The Antarian Empire also had a vast army filled with plate armoured shock troops. Life was cheap and the mines were full of slaves who laboured to harvest the resources needed to create and maintain this army. Alone this would of given the Empire the strength to last an age. Indeed many nations feared these armies also but the true source of the Antarian's power lay in their Devourers, fanatic zealots who were rewarded with some miniscule piece of the Void.

They were given the ability, nay the power to find within themselves untapped reserves of energy and willpower and were able to train their physical and martial prowess to near super-human levels. Indeed many thought of the Devourers as Demi-Gods but they were men and women, just as you and I, although very exceptional men and women.

The downfall of the Empire lay at the feet of one of these exceptional people. They somehow learned how to raise the bodies of the dead as servants to their will. What can one do against the dead? They ravaged the known world and fed the Devourer's lust for power and ambition. Luckily for us they were eventually defeated. Nobody knows how. Some speculate that this necromantic individual died and his undead fell with him. Others say that a hero found a way to sever the dark power from the world. The truth is lost with time.

Ages have passed and the past has a way of repeating itself. A warrior of distant Antarian descent sits in a murky tavern, watching the scum and villainy who occasionally walked in. Spotting a likely individual he walks over and sat down across from them.

"Join me and we'll carve an empire for ourselves." Says the Antarian. He opens a pouch filled with the gleam of gold.

Equipment: Not a definitive list but a good guide.

We dont use heraldric armour at all

Because of how individual players like certain items/builds/upkeep etc the Antarian uniform will not be strictly enforced in crpg. A "set" of Antarian equipment for use on parades/clan practice etc will be very helpful though.

Antarian Slave (peasants):

Slaves are forcibly recruited from villages by the Antarian recruiters. They are cannon fodder. Expected to die in order to further the cause and little else.

Antarian Regular (1/2h/pole): [/b]

Of Antarian blood or a very lucky veteran slave, Antarian regulars have decent armour and choose to use either a one hand or two handed blade.

Antarian Veteran/Elite (2h/Pole):

The Antarian Veterans and Elites are given the best plate armour around as well as a hard hitting two handed weapon. They are expected to kill, kill and kill some more. A regular can expect to advance to veteran status after five to ten years service.

Antarian Javilineer (Throwing):

The original empire trained only Javilneers as it's ranged force. While obviously lacking the range of bows and crossbows, the javelins really pack a punch through armour and can decimate a force of incoming soldiers just before the melee is engaged. Slaves are hand picked for this role. They are expected to loose their missiles in skimish formation until the melee begins and then join the melee.

Antarian Trained Javilineer (Throwing):

After many battles a Javilineer can expect to reach Trained status after several years.

Antarian Cavalry (Cav):

Again, more of a tag-along than a properly equipped force, the Empire saw the effectiveness of cavaary when subjugating horse-focused factions and trained its own. This cavalry fights on the wings and into the flanks and rear of enemy formations once the melee begins.

Antarian Archers (Forest Bandits):

Lacking its own archers the Empire hires common bandits to fill this role. They fight for pay, loot and a possibility of pardon.

Mercenary Xbowmen:

Paid mercenaries filling another gap in the Antarian Army. They can be relied on to do their role well for the generous gold they receive.

Antarian Noble: (1h/2h)

The high born of the Empire. Wearing only the best armour. They have the potential to become the strongest of all the antarian soldiers. (They are supposed to wear black plate boots and black gauntlets.)

Sounds fun, hope you have some non-plate armored setups too (maybe naked berserkers), otherwise it will take 1-2 months just to make enough gold to give plate armor to 150 man army.

yeah the eq is for strategus really

i totally understand a lot of people wont want to wear plate all the time in crpg

i only wear it myself from lvl 30-31

only the veterans/elites are plate armoured, all other units are more lightly armoured

I used to play the antarian faction in SoD as well. They are damn overpowered. Shows you what you need to do in native - Crutch on heavy armor
