Define Hybrid please. Am I a hybrid just because I use a spear as sidearm with my thrower? If yes, every ranged class that carries uses a melee weapon should be counted as hybrid.

I think a simple "max 2 cav" rule would solve most the balance problems, everything else is just bad choices. Enemy got 5 throwing lance throwers? Sit back and long range them with your archers. You participate with 5 2hand spammers without bringing your own ranged, well, bad luck, bring a squad of huscarls, you win.

And please less gold limit. A limit of 100k for 5 players is enough. You want some fancy cav? Prepare to bring peasants.

Yep simply limit it to 2 cav, that should be enough to keep it fair

And if you really want to shine as a hero, what is better to get 4 peasants with 12500g to protect? You would look double awesome between them

I still say we need more of a limit on classes. Without limits to classes we'll just end up with everyone being a hybrid with some kind of ranged weapon.  3/5 max of melee, ranged and cav still sounds fine. Melee=only melee weapons and shields (and maybe ladders, siege shields if they're allowed). Ranged=Anyone with a ranged weapon, so hybrids would count as ranged. Cav=anyone mounted (maybe with HAs/HTs counting as both ranged and cav? mounted ranged has always been pretty strong when few players are involved

Why do you think this? and what is the problem with it?

Because its the most powerful option. Why take only a 2h when you can also grab some throwing or a crossbow. And cav is going to run into problems when there are so many ranged weapons. Native experience tells me you need to limit classes or ranged will dominate. IG has done tournaments like this before. And the reason why is just that I find it boring when ranged is dominant, I'd much prefer to see all 3 types on the battlefield.

You're not the only one.

If there aren't limits on ranged, everyone will take a ranged weapon and there will be no point in bringing cav (unless it's HA or Javalry) or infantry. 2handers will be as useless as they are in native battles or in strategus. It'll be like everyone choosing rhodok xbowman - it makes it really really boring.
