Knights Templar - Declaration of war

Weary and bedraggled the messenger kicks his horse forward willing it up the long climb to the monastery.  It was no ordinary monastery however, but the residence of the Templar council.  Veteran warriors of the order who worked with and for the grand-master in aid of the popes holy cause.

On this day however no heroic or knightly deeds were to be done.

The messenger came into the monastery, where the monks were eating lunch and reminiscing tales of the old wars against the sarranids, he removed an envelope from one of his bags and took a seat by the fire. Opening the letter, one of the fatter monks slammed his fist on the table and spat food all across it as he roared.  As the letter was passed round the monks all took a darker turn, bitterness grew in their eyes and the monastery that had been full of laughter came to silence.


It came to pass that Templar Brothers, stationed in Khudan had come into a quarrel with the local Knights after they had assailed members of the Knights Hospitallers, long friends of the Templars, the 4 Templar brothers had ended up, hung and shot with crossbows.  The unmistakable bolts of a Rhodok Crossbow.


One of the more grizzled monks, with a long scar running down his cheek finally broke the silence. "The Kingdom of Veluca will pay for the deaths of our brothers!"

Within 5 minutes the Messenger had been grabbed from his seat, had a note thrust into his hand and told to ride north and with utter haste.

Before mounting his horse he quickly unrolled the note..

I guess if the NE had started and was getting the upperhand in the war the analogy would have made more sense. See you on the field, Templars.
