Secondary Mode Question

If I get a Heavy Bastard Sword, can I use it with a shield? My character has good stats for 1H. If yes, how much of the speed/power will i loose using the Heavy Bastard Sword as 1H.

Thank you

Buy the heavy bastard sword, then join a server (say a duel server).
Look at the equip screen, select the heavy bastard sword to be in slot one, and hover your mouse over the heavy bastard sword. You will see every mode and all the stats for each mode. You will lose a wee bit of each, but have killer reach (better off using an arabian cavalry sword though).

And yes, you can use it in one hand.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.

Interesting. So does it matter if I use shield with it or not?

I found this one about the shield. Too bad it takes away so much speed.

I use a Heavy BS myself, with and without a shield. One build had 100 1H and 144 2H and I could actually fight decently with 1H+shield; these days I go all 2H and only use 1H+shield when I'm chasing down archers or in a shieldwall/wall-breaker formation. if you want the versatility with one weapon, you might consider going the other way with a Langes Messer which is a 1H that has a secondary mode of 2H. Not my taste though.

Press "x" (default)

I changed that to shift, and moved the zoom thing to "z". Reaching "x" in a WASD configuration is really unconfortable. Good for "drop weapon" though.
