If you only care about performance, the regular poleaxe is probably overall the better weapon. However, I think the German looks better, which is why I use it.

German is better for siege and close quarters fighting and looks sexier. Standard is better for field battles and opening up tin cans.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.

i dont like siege much, and for me they both looks cool, but i really worry that regular poleaxe can stuck in walls/trees... and maybe about teamhits/tk but this 10 reach is also cool, it is hard to decided(

Honestly, for me it depends on how much you hate horses. For me, it is a pathological hatred that extends into every build so I use the Poleaxe (as well as the Poleaxe master of cRPG suggesting it to me), so the reach helps with that sexy stab.

I used both and just settled on the one that fit my play style before, though sometimes I swap back for a few rounds because I like to facehug dance so much. I also use the thrust animation a lot as I am good at aiming for the face, so again the standard poleaxe was chosen. Lastly, my polearm build is 24/15 so the extra reach helps negate the low athletics, and I have yet to fall victim to those mythical back-peddlers (though that is a garbage tactic against anyone who knows what they are doing anyways). Without that extra reach I don't think I could fend off and delay 4 or 5 guys like I am often forced to do.

Just remember that with both weapons they have that lovely spike on the end, so your reach is significantly longer then it looks at a glance. You can get in countless free hits if you get used to the weapon.

I personaly would do a 24/18, as the 8 powerstrike works well for me (I do a 24/15).

That would be open entirely to personal preference. I can do ok with just 4 wm but some people swear on higher levels. It really is hard to say. Having 6 athl though would really help for the german.

You could always make an alt, then use skip the fun on it to test if 6wm is what you want.

21/18 is a good build for 30. You sure as hell don't need 6 WM unless you want to pick up a crossbow or something. If you're not wearing heavy armor, you only need 3 WM. Otherwise, use 4 or 5 WM.

At 33, you'd be better served with a 24/18 build. One important bit of advice for you too: Overheads are your friend. With the increased amount of hits it takes to kill an armored character with cut damage, go for overheads. So in a battle, when you see a guy engaged with someone else, sneak up and overhead. Most people won't last more than 2 hits. When you go for head hits, a MW German Poleaxe is going to do 90 damage BEFORE speed bonus and PS are added. It's very nice for head hits.  :D
