What city should the NA/US West Server be hosted in?

True Dallas isn't west coast but its still more west then east. In fact it's about 1000 miles closer to me then the Chicago servers. This poll is about finding a location to host a server that would benefit a lot of people.

Seattle was already offered.  Haven't heard any offers from anywhere else.  Have heard mention ingame of a possible Vancouver server as well but I forget who it was now and that was a month ago.  Either way those are prime for me - I'd donate!

But this isn't a real choise issue afaik.  It's all based on who steps up and actually makes it happen, and us throwing money at them to lessen the load.

Not really, Dallas is mid-south. It's in no way on the western part of the US, in fact I think I would get a better ping on Chicago servers than Dallas, and I live as far west as possible (other than Hawaii of course).

If you hadn't figured it out yet, it's not really about you, it's whats best for the majority. Let's look at numbers here.

California has a population of 36,000,000, Texas 24,000,000, Washington 6,000,00, British Columbia (West Canada) Population is around 4,500,000, and Alaska has a population around 690,000 of which you are probably the only person representing the M&B.  I'd say that a server that suits a VAST majority would be much better bet to please the Western population.

If you look at the current results from the poll you'll see a tie between 3 major US choices. It seem to me a middle ground between them would be the best choice. Oh look Salt Lake City is about equal distance from LA, Seattle, and Dallas Texas.

I second this guys vote for Seattle - it really does seem the best choice.

I'm definitely not against Dallas, but it's a bit silly to call it a "West Coast" server when it's the same distance from New York City as it is from San Francisco.

I only refer to west coast server because in my mind it's either vancouver or seattle for placement.  Selfish opinion there, but to each his own.  I'm not even sure if the others are technically east coast, just call them that as comparison.

In my mind, Chicago's pretty much East Coast as far as game servers are considered.  It's on the border of Eastern time and East Coast players have half the ping of West Coast players.

Just from looking at the poll it's getting more and more obvious that Seattle is a minority choice. No surprise really.

In any case Seattle isn't the worst option on that poll. If Gorath decides to host in Seattle, hell I'll benefit from it.

But I still can't help trying to get him to think of the majority of players he'll be leaving out. People from the Seattle/BC as well as East, West , and South would all benefit from a server in the SLC/Boise area. That's all I'm trying to point out.
