1H cav

I have played polearm cav for a long time with 1h as a sidearm, but now i've decided to also learn how to play efficient 1h cav - the only problem is that i suck at it.

So what i'm looking for here is a few tips and tricks to become a better 1h cav, and if anyone is up for it, i'd like some 'private lessons'

I would also love to know which weapons you guys prefer, wy you prefer them and how you use them in battle.

run people directly over or have them slightly to your right. at point of contact, release right side swing closest to horse

arab cav, NCS & KAS are great starter weapons

When going cav on cav against a lance cav, get in front of the enemy horse, shield from the lance, make it rear and then slash the horse/rider. Works against almost all nubcav, and even good lancecav can be caught off guard by this.

If you fail to kill the horse or the rider with your first attempt, he won't aim for you next pass and will kill your horse instead.

Ask Phaz, he always has good tips and tricks and is much better at typing them out than I am.
Build would be 18/18 and for a weapon anything with 100+ range and a lot of cut damage is preferred.

I've tried it and you can work with it. Downside is it's range. Best cav sword imo is the arabian cavalry sword, as it allows you to hit in front of your horse and the 105 reach is just massive. Learn it's reach and use all of it for maximum effect. The -2 cut damage is definatly worth the +13 reach.

I've tried out the langes messer as a 1h cav weapon, which has the same reach as the military cleaver. It's just a bit too short imo, since my normal 1h cav sword is the knightly arming sword (102 length vs 92). The extra reach definitely helps.

arab is great if you are just beheading peasants,  NCS & KAS are more well rounded and good for attacking tincans, other cav and if you get dismounted.

ACS is perfectly useable on foot. It's fast enough to prevent getting outspammed and you can catch people off guard with the right-left slash (massive reach).
Just don't try to stab people with it.
I disagree with the "vs other cav" part, as it's reach allows you to hit them before they hit you (talking other 1h cav). Performance of the different swords vs lancer cav is pretty much equal.

2 extra reach doesnt make up for 2-5 more pierce dmg on a thrust.  that dmg gets increased drastically with speed bonus

More a matter of preference I guess.

21/15 works fine too, and 24/12 seems to work, aswell. Personal sword preference is KAS, for it's versality and good stab.
