Strategus Help
« on: August 08, 2011, 12:00:26 pm »

So I've read the FAQ, and I've found myself on the map. I now have no idea what to do.

If I die in Strategus, do I lose all the equipment on my character which I normally use, or just Strategus equipment?
What should I do first?

Any tips for me or a little guide to get me started?

Complete guide +1.
There is no truth only a series of interpretations.

Don't worry, it's not really linked to your normal cRPG character except that when you play cRPG, you also earn gold in Strategus. So you won't lose anything in cRPG due to Strategus.

If you 'die' in strat (lose a battle), you get teleported to a random spot on the map.

As a clanless player, it's very hard to be useful in strat. You can go look for a village to recruit troops in. But watch the hourly fee. Owners of fiefs can set the fee between 0 and 100 gold per hour.
You can also try and earn strategus gold by working in one of the towns.

You can sell your troops and gold in strategus. Some players and clans pay cRPG gold for strategus gold and troops. Or you can try to group up with a few other players, pool your resources and start a battle somewhere.

Most villages have already been taken by clans, but if you can get over 500 troops together and a lot of strategus gold to buy equipment, you can try and conquer that village. Or maybe you want to start a battle with another player by attacking him.

I consider Strategus to be a fancy battle-scheduling machine. ;)

Be sure to install the eye candy script(s):

It makes navigating strategus much easier.
And: http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,11210.msg159686.html

It's old and not updated, but it still seems to work fine.

Thanks for that small section of text by the way, it's very useful.

For now, either go recruit troops in a village somewhere or try and earn money in one of the towns.

And start looking for a clan to 'help out' or possibly even join. Or make a faction of your own with a few friends.

If you want to have fun quickly, save up a few hundred troops and attack some other poor guy with a few hundred troops out in the open.

If you want to go more long term, go plan your conquest of that village and the resulting war with the clan you will attack. Lots and lots of politics to be done in Strat. ;)

Thank you very much Phazey. I applied for clans a while back by my exams started but decided it would be best to wait until I was done - I might try again.

After played it for a little bit, I've got a few more questions - I know I'm a pain.
Would it be best for me to earn money or recruit troops first?
What does the tavern option do?
Is there anyway to increase the gold per hour from earning money?
Linked with the previous question probably, is there anyway to improve the %chance of of recruiting soldiers?

You need both - money to buy equipment and troops to fight. I would go for troops and earn money in CRPG

What does the tavern option do?

Nothing. You are just wasting time.

More people working/recruiting in the fief means lower percentage of recruitment chance or less money to earn. Find the fief with less people inside.

Thanks Erasmas, one more if I haven't annoyed you so much by now, it seems I'm recruiting troops while moving to a castle, what's up with that? Could I have a brief explanation of when/where you can earn money and recruit troops and how you move across the map and enter villages/castles/etc.?

1. As Phaz suggested install eye candy for Strategus Map and Character Page. It will make your life easier.

2. I'm recruiting troops while moving to a castle, what's up with that? That is not possible. You can either move on the map or be inside location and recruit/earn.... or it is a bug  :D You need to "see" the village to enter it - on strat map page, in the side window, you will see all units that are within the range, just click on the name of the unit (player, or fief or castle or town) and you will see various options - including "enter" and "attack"; when you enter the village the new window will open. To leave location you need to click on the location name in the side window and you will see "leave" option...

3. Fiefs are best for recruitment (highest percentage of recruitment per hour with quite a lot of people inside. Towns are best for work - highest wages. Castles, well castles are better for work, but worse than towns...

Ah I had both a window open for the map and a window "Strategus News" which was me inside the town. However, I don't know what side window you are on about for leaving the town.

Also, How much gold in Strategus do I get when playing CRPG, is it 1 gold per tick of x1?

On the Strat map page, on the left side you can see the list of units within your range (if you have the eye candy script this list is in a small frame, or window, but if you if don't have it, it is just some text). If you click on the location name ON THAT LIST you will see "Leave [fief name] option down below in another frame. Click on it and it's done.

About gold - it is 1:1 afaik, not sure about it :D good to know ;-)
