BEST?! DO YOU KNOW WHY.. I didn't go Charmander? One because it looks like barney the dinosaur and two because most of the people friends and friends of friends I knew back when I played pokemon blue on my gameboy colour, they all chose it! I think only one friend had Squirtle and although he's cute, he grows up to be an ugly mofo but Bulbsasaur, he's a pokemon of defense! A pokemon of the natural world, a pokemon that's green! A pokemon who can make sunshine come out of his arse when he's all grown up.

Except the dozen fire attacks he has ofc  .

I'ts always the same story: grass types are good in the beginning, water is semi-useful, fire is the worst. The further you get the better the fire type gets, the worse the water, and the grass becomes useless. Except in the ruby/sapphire gens.

Everyone knows wet grass doesn't burn! I can leech charizards arse with energy draining seeds, tackle him to the floor, vine-whip his rear end then give him a free trip abroad on the end of a solar beam.

Double not very effective on solar beam? Not a good thing to do .

Best thing to do is use Sleep Powder and leech seed, than hope for the best. Zzzzzzz.

Grass is the best starter pokémon in Red/Blue for 1 reason only.

It will literally rock ''Brock'' and ''Misty's'' socks.

And Lt with lighting isn't that hard with it either.

And in the end you only need your Venusar and Gyarados which will rape em all because of it's possibilities.

The Gyarados can use moves such as Fire Blast (Fire), Hyper Beam (Normal Critical Move), Ice Beam (ice, also perfect versus Lance dragons), Thunder (Lightning), Hydro Pump (Water), and many many more moves including powerful dragon moves..

Now add the fact that you will spam buff Gyarados with HP Up, Protein, Iron etc etc... It will became a incredibly powerful pokémon which will handle all possible situations.

And then as your 3rd pokemon and last one you might consider a Moltres or something just as a backup pokemon to revive the other pokemons.


So Venusaur, Gyarados and any other pokemon will rape Elite Four and all and everything.

End of story. Gyarados is imba and will rape your parents while you cry for pikachu to help.

Gyarados is a physical attacker, not a special attacker  .

Proteins and other stuff like that merely give EV points, which can be gained by fainting enemy pokémon too. To a maximum of of 510 points, which boost the stats your pokémon gains when leveling up.

Grass only rocks in the early game. Fire will give you the most performance endgame. For Dragons you just use other pokémon, like Gyarados with Ice Fang.
