Character belongs to someone else

Hey there,

I have searched the forum and found multiple threads on the issue. However none of them had a clear fix for me.

Just earlier this day I was playing crpg with no issue and have been doing so for a month. I had just carried out the minor update to the new version and played for around half an hour. I then switched to a family steam account in order to play a different game (this is not a new occurence, done this many times in the past). I log back into my original account, but now when I log into a server with my current characters I get the above error message instantly and get kicked.

I have checked my registry for warband, the key is exactly the same as that steam shows me.

Just to clarify, I only have one warband cd-key which I play on my original steam account.

Cheers for any help you can provide.

Day later and I still have this issue. Cannot use any of my characters on any crpg servers.

I can make a new character, but obviously I'd like to be able to get some help so I can play normally again.

Cheers

Edit: Actually I cannot make a new character. Essentially the website no longer recognises that this is my cd-key anymore, yet I haven't changed anything.

Was able to make this new account and set of characters seemingly on the same steam account.

What does this mean? Has the cd-key changed on its own somehow?

appears that way. You sure you haven't changed something with your steam accounts?
Also, I have declared myself #1 NA hybrid thrower
Formerly known as Marathon.
As an NA admin, I am the most laid back and concerned with the ~fun of the game~ above all other factors. I've also been super inactive since Summer 2012. University takes most of my time, but I still find some time to play when i can.

This can be coused if you play M&B on another steam account from the same computer.

IF you know your original CD-key then:
1. Log out and exit steam (and Mount & blade)
2. Create a .txt file with this text (where the X:s are, put your CD-key instead):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mount&Blade Warband]
"CDKey"="XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"
3. Save the .txt as x.reg
4. Execute the created file.
5. Start steam and the game again.

If you have Steam and therefor don't have a box to check your CD-key, it should also work if you just reinstall Mount & Blade completely.

You can go on IRC, and ask an admin to check which cd-key is used with your char name.
Then you'll just have to compare if you have the good one.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

As far as I know I've changed nothing on the account. The possible culprit I can see is my use of a different steam account on the same pc to play some other games, that account does happen to have warband on it, but I hadn't touched it before the cd-key changed.

Currently attempting to reinstall warband on my original account. Steam servers making it difficult, i'll get back to you with results. If that doesn't work I'll check IRC, though I'm not in a major rush as I enjoy trying out level 30s on the new account.

Cheers

Reinstalling the game on steam reverted the cd-key to my original, so it's all good now!

Thanks for the help!
