Isn't it generally accepted that if you are passing through someones land you message them, and talk about it first? If a 1000 man army shows up in most of the clans territory without permission, they are probably going to be on high alert or just smash you regardless.

Theres like 30 plus clans who i dont even know their forum names, TS details, this is also a bug report, so a lot easier this way

If you accidentally retreated before the battle satrted all the things you listed would happen exactly as you said.  Occam's Razor - the most likely solution is usually the correct one.  You probably accidentally cancelled your battle.

I hadnt gone on the roster and therefore couldnt cancel the battle
