strat has different K/D than a siege server, old strat 1h+shield and archers where king and the other stuff followed closely, lets see how this is going first.

Because everyone is fapping let me play the devils advocate.

I know that early in strat AI factions play a role. Later they do not. Later they are owned completely by players.
What the AI recruitment does, is to allow new players to experience strategus without necessarily being a part of a large experienced clan.
Most clans that participated in old strat already have alliances making their team fixed 3 times over. New players won't get a chance in these battles.

So tl;dr

This might result in new players not getting the chance to try out strategus.

This is actually true.
And to elaborate what I said earlier: AIs will end up with better mercs than the player controlled army, because it can actually see who's worth hiering and who's not. But then again it doesnt mean that all these "better mercs" can work together :(.
All in all I think we should just wait and see how this will turn out.

PS is this going to be in the beta strat as well?

You could use (average life expectancy) x (total damage dealt) to work out who the best players are.

This way

1) rewards those that help to kill the enemy and not just those who land the fatal blow.
2) rewards those that survive without rewarding those that survive by hiding and not doing anything.
3) doesn't reward 2H spammers who charge in picking up lots of quick kills before dying themselves.

Without knowing typical values for average life expectancy or total damage dealt I wouldn't have any idea how to weight the equation but it would probably be best if only chadz knew that anyway.  Of course this might really overpower the AI as in theory team players would get the highest reward.

If you add in a "time since last strategus battle for the AI" factor as well then that would help the newer, more casual and ineffective Startegus players out a bit as well and get them involved.  Clan members can get extra battle time from their clans and allies so shouldn't be too badly affected and the best solo players will get hired by clans since they are that damn good.  This would help limit how overpowered the AI is as well.

Or just go solely on attendance. People who show up are rewarded, people who no-show are hired less/paid less.

This unbalances in favor of the AI much more now. More players for the actual battle, and more players able to be hired? Not to mention it will only hire the better players...

May be 90 fpr defence is too much. There is no difference between 60 and 90 naked peasants but towns and castles with good equip will have 1,5 times more players then attackers. On walls. Pretty much. But on the other hand during strat1 we took castles with absurd casualties, now castle sieges will be more realistic I guess.

Reinhardt teamplay makes difference. There is no advantage for AI in recruiting best available players.

1. Lag in strat is almost if not completely gone!! THANKS! :-)

2. someone should speak to someone about a TS for defenders, and then put that link in the battle message. (Perhaps with some encouraging words! Describing a little bit of what is expected from classes etc. Could be a generic prototype text to inspire real battle-messages.)

1. i had massive lag, it was very hard to even block and strike back, managed somehow.
2. +1 yes please, i think we can use the official crpg ts chan, but it needs to be updated again.

If we were too low level to be hired by the AI for the first 10 villages. And that in it, players had a good k/d ratio. Then your own chance of ever being recruted by the AI (even after hiting lv30 or above) would be drastically reduced, no ?

Since AI only counts k/d ratio, i guess you better do your best at stealing kills, instead of assisting others. Guess AI won't have a lot of archers. (Since the ones who join for village get shortbow = no damage = shitty k/d ratio = not hired in castle/towns). Guess i'll go with a full Str 2h or polearm.  :rolleyes:

- Strategus recruiting changed: every hour it hires applicants. Once hired, you can still be kicked out if the AI thinks there's a better applicant
- if you are not in the battle roster right before the game, don't give up - it kicks people out that have not been active right before the battle (like joining a server on using the website). This means you can still get in.
- the AI will remember your performance. If you do bad, your chances to get hired in the future sink drastically. At the same time, if you do good, you can ask for more money from the AI in the future.
- Sabotaging the AI is not allowed.


The green stuff I really really like. Nice work on that!

The purple part I also like, but I think this should be disabled as soon as the roster is off the site. This way I've stayed near my pc in order to log in for the battle, but twice now I found that I havent been hired, even though it said on the site 5 hours ago that I was. Could this be changed?
