Just get the practice shield with 13 shield skill and become a Shielder God.

I thought 13 shield skill was bannable.

Only from the Admins who don't understand that 8*13 =104 and think you are using the shield glitch!

So... sometimes... :/
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.

The 1PS brings a new meaning to death by a thousand paper cuts!
granted getting one shot is normal if you mess up, but use that 105 speed shield and oh my hahahahaha.

It can be game breaking though, yes, heh, in the right situation. Crushthrough always kills me :/ 0ATHL hurts then, heh.

Oh you tried it? It could be good as pure support, just pushing the line or enemies and let the others do the hitting.

Only for a few rounds. Perhaps in the coming days I will hit a battle server for an hour and test there in earnest for an hour or so maybe more before grinding my main again. I do think that it could be a marvelous support character, especially if the 1 PS and 3 WM were swapped out for 4 ATHL to keep up. I want to get Couched while using this shield, heh.

Well, in theory it shouldn't break, couch is normal (just huge) damage.

Yeah, but I am hoping for a reaction against a Coucher cav or a Great Axe user after the shield not breaking, and see something funny in chat!

Yes I know I'm terrible sometimes

You mean :D

I can imagine 13 shield gets boring fast though. You're just a tank without ammo.

Oh agreed, hence why it is a disposible STF character. I kinda like hitting people and not glancing... Feels nice.

my intended char build is...
lvl 30
STR 18
AGI 18
HP 63

Skills to attributes 2
IF 5
PS 6
Shield 6
Athletics 6
WM 6

1h 156

Equipment: Warhammer, blue coat of plates, shield?, guard helmet, mail mittens, rus splinterd greaves. Total of around 37000 though so would have to tone down on armor or helmet to stay on par.

To get back on topic....

Unless you're going for looks, your armor is kinda heavy. To play a good 1-hander (especially since you're using a really short weapon) you need to be fast. That heavy armor will weigh you down a lot.

Also, use a light, quick shield. No one likes boring turtles and they are also much less effective than an aggressive 1-hander. So I would suggest the Knightly Heater, the Knightly Kite, or the Brown Lion Heater. They are all light and quick.

ToD, now tell us:

were your posts a please to devs to nerf shield skill or was your post a please to devs to stay with current shield skill power?

i say: thanks devs, now gimped shielder isn't THAT gimped. I like the idea for unbreakable shield if you have 13 shield skill, basically it isn't gamebreaking - you die to a hit or two, your mistake means your death.

My current view on this problem is:

Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 3
Agility: 39
Hit points: 38
Skills to attributes: 14
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 0
Shield: 13
Athletics: 4
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 0
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 113
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1

Shortened spear.
Any clothes.
Shield could be either: huscarl (for ultimate teammates protecting), steel shield for good look, buckler for more mobility (the worst idea, though big forcefield + buckler would result in one big wtf on enemy's side), or just elite cavalry shield for a bit more forcefield,

What, why not take one of the cheaper big shields?

Mainly it is a post saying keep it as it is. No sense in nerfing it unless it turns into a problem on the battle field (no theoretical scenarios don't count, I want to actually see it become a problem with my own eyes).

Currently shields seem to be a bit weird in that it seems easy to sideslip around them now even when standing dead in front of shield users with 4-6 shield skill. No sense in nerfing further.

My post is merely pointing out a fun gimmick build! With this build you should either take the lightest shield for speed, the largest shield for coverage, or the fastest shield for ... obvious blocking reasons, in my opinion.

I like it, though I am not sure I would recommend it for a main, hehehe.

I might just "scale" down to scale armor then (haha, pun on words ) and choose a helmet apropriate to it. The warhammer has a renaissance style to it so I thought that plate would go good with the looks. But, in the end, gameplay is more important. I want a shield that can stand a beating and im guessing the shields you mentioned focus more on speed than durability. If I'm right about that then ill have to pass on those
