FPS/General lag issue

So yeah, I know I'm on a piece of shit rig and all, but when there is more than say 50 people on a server I notice a huge degredation in gameplay on my end.  I'll go from 80-100 fps down to 15-30.  It's not subtle, it's quite dramatic and it really feels like I'm playing in mud.  Attacks don't happen when I click LMB, same with blocks.  Switching movement directions feels sluggish, ranged shots are impossible.

AAAANNYWAYS... I've heard other people comment in vent about feeling similar effects, pretty much all of whom have far better computers than I.  Does anyone have a good way to fix this, or know about what specs on the puter solves this issue?  Before you suggest I have already tried:
Defragging (multiple times)
Drivers are all up to date (MB, Vid Card, Sound card, OS)
Sweeping (no viruses/spyware)
Shutting down all non-essential programs before I play

Probably grasping at straws at this point, but figured I'd ask.

Maybe you could give up paying for some of the server for a while and save up for a better computer or parts :]

My tax return should cover this, that's already planned.  Just wondering if anyone has a fix or suggestion to tide me over till then.  With so many new players thanks to the damned steam sale and xmas (FUCK YOU STEAM!) the servers are ALL almost always full or close to it lately.

That's part of the reason I made my home on the 80 man pre-patch;  usually we were 30 players or under all the time and my FPS/gameplay was great.

My FPS never drops very low.  I've never seen it below 45ish.  I also have good ping most of the time.  Yet I notice major problems in large melees also.  My character won't attack when I tell him to, or my attacks will just go straight through people without effect, and enemy attacks will go through my blocks (and no not due to crushthrough or feints or anything, just plain attacks that I move to block well in advance).  It's really random.  Another good reason to take up archery.

Yeah, I've been on DX7 for a while now on this temp puter.  God it's ugly.

EXACTLY!  I mean, I do get an FPS drop, but it's exactly that fucked up "muddy" feeling that you're describing that's bugging the shit out of me.

If there is a major clash, like 60 or more ppl at same time same place fighting, or i get with like 20 in some closed area, i am spamming left mouse like crazy and my char is just standing there chambered ... but no other problems anytime (xcept major lag on beginning of every round after .210)

At 45ish ping and above I get this same issue.  Hope someone knows of a solution to this issue.

DX7 is ugly but could help you.

Welcome to my world. Only solution I have found so far is a joint and a film on the tv. Alternatively a punch bag close to your setup does wonders and you might get fit to boot.

All I can say is don't try horse archery. HA + crappy fps =omgfail.

It happens on the siege server pretty easily once it hits like 65++

The only solution I've found is to change servers. D:

If you aren't already, I would recommend Game Booster.

It's not a drastic change, but it should help a bit.
